I am planning a trip to see the Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids and the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit next spring. I see only 2 timeshares in the area:The Beach House in Holland (RCI 8761) and Wintergreen Quarters (2348) in Stanwood. They are both about an hour from Grand Rapids and over 3 from Detroit. I can't find either resort on the TUG Resort Reviews. Here are my questions:

1. What is the best timeshare to stay at to see the Ford Presidential and Henry Ford Museum?

2. Why doesn't either resort mentioned above show on the TUG site?

3. What other things like these museums are worth seeing in the area? I am not looking for golf or beach stuff, mostly museums and world class attractions.

Thanks,
Joe

You might check a timeshare in Port Clinton, OH. I think it is called Erie Islands Resort & Marina. I know it is listed in II - don't see it on RCI. I never see many exchanges there though.

Port Clinton, OH is only about 1.5 hrs from Detroit....by the way, we really enjoy the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Have fun!

In our 25 years in timesharing, I have only seen availability at the Holland resort one time, and have only seen the Stanwood resort a few times. Never much available......

You must visit the Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park and the Museum (across the street from GR Ford Museum) when in Grand Rapids area. We just visited the gardens last weekend, and it was WONDERFUL! Check out the Art Museum, too. They are in a new building I think.

In the Detroit area, be sure to see the Detroit Institute of Arts. Diego Rivera mural is well worth the visit!

The Beach House in Holland is very nice. Very upscale. No attractions. Definitely way to far from Detroit. It is three floors so if you have trouble with stairs, this may be an issue. Note there are no activities at all. This is just a few units with a pool. It is across the street from the lake, and not that far from Holland State Park and the beach. Best time to go is during the summer.

There is a housekeeping fee with this unit.
