Will it be possible for us to find out if/when/how many timeshares
actually are being sold through the TUG website? There are lots of
postings right now and I'm wondering if any will really sell.
If they do, it will be so encouraging for the rest of us who
would like to try selling.
Thank you,
Judy

If some TURer thinks that he can get $5000.00 for a TS that didn't even get a bid for a $1.00 on Ebay, he(she) is dillusional. Then they conclude that TUG classified is ineffective. And this from TUGers(you have to be to advertise on the TUG classified)

Yes, you have to be a member to advertise, which is such a great benefit. With the sightings, which are substantial at this point, and the ability to see reviews, and now the free ads, TUG is the place to be. :D I love TUG! My membership is priceless, yet it is only $15.

the new ad system has only been public for a month now...and has over 100 completed listings.

I haven't had any replies to my ad since I put it on the free site and when I paid for the previous ones, only time wasters, no-one genuinely interested in buying.

I am sorry to hear that, is the price in line with the other ads on this and other free/low cost sites?

If does not sell either it is priced to high or worthless. In the former case drop the price in the latter call in the PCCs

Classified ads boards are places to puts ads to sell TSes, not for prayers and hoping for miracles.(sell a $1.00 TS for thousands)

I purchased a TS off Tug :D

I am sorry to hear that, is the price in line with the other ads on this and other free/low cost sites?

I think so. Celebrity gets a bad rap, but it worked for a Sanibel exchange this year, so I was really pleased.

i am i the processing of buying off tug.....did a lot of research on REASONABLE ads, found some good options and are moving on a purchase

tugs ad

just sold property listed free on tug.
in orlando.
i priced reasonably and sold within two months of listing.

Thanks for the info

Thank you richardm for the thread. Augoeng, I couldn't get through
for some reason to see completed sales.
Also thank you lprstn, sandkastle4966, and bigrick for letting us
know that you bought through TUG, and CLIFFTOPS for letting us
know that you are selling. That's really good news to know that
people are actually buying and sellling timeshares.

Here is an update on my results...

Inquiries have been rec'd on Marriott Maui Ocean and Hyatt Beach House..

Nothing on Marriott Phuket, Marriott Ocean Pointe, Harborside, DVC Animal Kingdom, or Shell Pts..

DVC AKV, Harborside, Hyatt BH, and Shell sold through other venues- so I've pulled those ads...

As Brian said- this program is still very new and as this site depends primarily on word of mouth advertising- it may take some time to grow... I plan on maintaining a few ads to keep testing the waters and I'll look for some off-brand properties at liquidation price to see if those get responses (you certainly can't beat the price right now!)..

Timeshare classifieds are one of the most competitive internet business models over the last few years- and are one of the hardest to expose to the general public.

If you have success, please add to this thread so other members know what properties are of current interest to TUG buyers.. I'm really interested in seeing what this classified venue grows into, and if it becomes a niche market- what resorts will do well here....

there will eventually be counters on the timeshare marketplace home listing the current number of ads for sale, current number of completed listings, number of messages sent to members regarding ads...etc etc for all to see.

I sold my Royal Mayan listing in less than one week on the TUG site - had 6 seemingly serious queries. Apparently I sold it for too little but I'm happy :).

I have had 2 queries my Royal Islander listing but nothing serious yet.

Works for me

I am sure like everything, it comes down to price. I quickly browsed the TUG ads and found many TS's grossly overpriced. They simply won't sell. My suggestion is before listing your TS, do your research to find the value. Remember, you won't sell it for what you want to sell it for, but rather what the buyer wants to buy it for. That goes for everything from cars to houses.

we have a page that all members who post a timeshare on the site must "Agree" to before posting an ad.

right at the top of the page is a reminder/recommendation to read the "how to sell your timeshare" article (and a link to it).

Trying to rent

I'm using the rental site to try and rent one of my weeks on Kauai. I haven't had a nibble, but I knew that might be the case because of the air fares to Hawaii. If I can't rent it, well darn! I may just have to enjoy it myself!

I have a rental for Oahu for Easter. Only someone trying to phish me for info contacted me. No one that was really interested so far.

Just wanted to let you all know I'm in the middle of buying an orlando ts right now which I found on tug's site. I actually found 2 ts I wanted to buy, both on tug but the first one the seller misprinted the ad so I'm buying the second one. I found that a lot of brokers are using tug to sell their listings.

Json mentions brokers - maybe that's the problem I'm having with my own ad and not getting inquiries - as I AM a real estate broker, although the T/S belongs to my husband and myself, I have to disclose my profession. Maybe it puts buyers off, but I have no choice.
