I am wondering if anyone knows where we might find out when specific points expire in SPG? I know as owners our points are good for 6 years and I was trying to find out how to check on the expiration date for points. I called SPG but they don't have that information. Someone must have an accounting of it. They just confirmed that they always use the oldest points first. That would indicate they keep track of that.

Thanks for any suggestions.

all points acquired from the amex CC do not expire. all points you get from first day incentives, explorer packages , and starpoint conversion all expire in 6 years.

hope that helps.

I'm guessing they're not really tracking which points came from where. If you've been using your points over time you're probably OK, like with airlines. If you're at 5 1/2 years from your initial point infusion, and you have not used a single point for anything in that time frame, you probably should do something soon. If that's your situation, you have a LOT more self control about not vacationing than I do!

I was wondering this too. How do they know what came from where?? I have Am Ex points each month plus my incentives. I want them to use my Incentive points first when I transfer points to airline miles. But that is a lot of bookkeeping on their end...

Reviving an ancient thread (sorry if there is a more recent version - I couldn't locate it).

Has anyone run into this issue? I am concerned that I may have some SPG points expiring soon (sourced from SVN) and called SPG but they have no way to tracking this which makes we wonder if it is even a concern anymore?

Has anyone had their points expire on them or found a way to determine which points within their account are due/subject to expiration?

Thanks
