Best story ever

I sold one last year during Happy Hour at the resort bar. I mentioned that I was thinking of selling and threw out a price. As I was leaving, a lady ran after me and said she would like to give me a $100 deposit. I had purchased the unit at a good price and sold for a $100 profit. This was a fixed week resort. My suggestion is to be there the week before or the week after your week and put out the word that you have a unit for sale at a good price. Someone with an adjoining week may be interested.
love it! Best story ever.

I bought [a timeshare point system] in 2001, for $20,000. Then [another company] took them over and now [a 3rd management company.] The yearly fee is now $1,895 and I want out. What should I do?
Do I pay the fee due January 1st and then try to sell, but how? WHat is it worth now?

Hi and Welcome to TUG!

Because of the economy, resale prices have dropped to an all-time low and people are dumping their timeshares on the market because they can't afford the travel or can't afford the maintenance fees. If you sell now, if you can even find a buyer, you should expect to take a 50-90% loss.

I know that's hard to swallow, but here's an example of what the market is doing - right now there are over 200 timeshares listed on ebay for less than $100 - many for just a $1.

If you just can't afford the maintenance fee, they quickest way to get rid of it is list it for $1 and offer to pay the transfer cost. You can get a basic professional transfer for about $100.

Who would want to pay ANYTHING and be strapped with MFs that continue to be unrealistic when you can get super deals from owners wanting to rent out?
I regret every buying a TS.

I have a lot of experience with timeshare resales. If you would like to share what you own, I will be happy to tell you what you should get for it to sell it relatively quickly (assuming you want to sell quick).

send me a PM with your details...
I own 20,000 points with Club Sunterra, Diamond resorts. I cannot transfer the Club ownership but I still would like to sell. Any advice on how I can do this?
