I'm a newbie here so please forgive my ignorance...
We are (like many others) still waiting for Marriott to recognize us as new owners of a resale property at Cypress Harbour. Spring Break is the best time for us to travel and I'm sure that I will not be able to book anything during that time for 2009.
I'm thinking of trying to book week 51 for 2009 and depositing it right away. Then in March/April of 2009 I will try to book my spring break week 2010. My question is... can I then book my deposited week for spring break 2010 also? Ideally, we'd like to have 2 rooms during the same week so we can bring along some family members.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!!

As soon as you book your week 51 at Cypress Harbour, you can deposit it in II. You can also place your request to exchange that week for a 2010 spring break week. However an exchange won't come through until at least 13 months prior to the spring break week you want as people won't be able to book and deposit them until 13 months prior in 2009. I wouldn't expect you would have any problem with your exchange coming through. If it comes through prior to having to book your 2010 week you will know the exact dates to book your 2010 week for. If it doesn't you will have to call II to have them modify your exhange request so you can request the exact dates you want.

You can't "book" a deposited week for the spring 2010 week that you want. You must "request" an exchange through II. Whether that request will be matched with what you want depends on whether other owners deposit the week you want and whether your trading power is enough to grab that deposited week.

Best bet is to deposit your 2009 week 51 as soon as you make the reservation and immediately request the exchange that you want for 2010. You can make an exchange request at any time for up to two years after the check-in date of your deposited week.

One more point. Be sure to have a backup plan in case you aren't able to book those weeks you want - week 51 next year and spring break in 2010. Remember that those are two of the most popular weeks of the year. Thus, there will be many more owners trying to book those weeks than there are weeks available. Some owners will miss out. Please prepare for the possibility that you might be among those that miss out.
