We're planning 9 nights in Maui at one of the Westin Kaanapali resorts. (Looks like there is availability, just need to wait a week to book the rez) but looking to add 2 nights(3 days) on Oahu so our friends can visit Pearl Harbor. We've been to Oahu before for a couple days and have always stayed near Waikiki, because it's Waikiki. ;) Thinking about staying in Kapolei this time. Any opinions? I see it's farther away from the airport and PH, but not horribly farther. Parking is less expensive and the hotel has hot breakfast included in the room rate. Room will actually cost us more points to stay than the one in Waikiki, but the other factors make up for that.

Looking for opinions. :) (I'm bummed that you need reservations for Diamond head, that was one of the spots I had planned on taking them to as well if time permitted.)

I would still stay in Waikiki over Kapolei but you probably can't go wrong either way. There have been a lot of changes in Waikiki over the last few years. Many places closed and others have moved in.

Now that my wife is doing better we will probably make a trip back to visit and check out the changes since we moved. Kim has already mentioned it a few times already.

Just my thoughts since no one answered. shaka
