I may have an offer - direct exchange Kauai Beach Club one bedroom for my 2 bedroom platinum Manor Club. My kids would have to share the sofa bed, but they're pretty good about that. Aruba gold 2 bed just doesn't seem to be pulling Hawaii - or maybe I'm just too impatient. I do have my 2 hotel certificates for Kauai (I believe it's the same resort) if I don't get a trade.

I was planning on going to Williamsburg this summer with the kids and the folks. I figured my Aruba would pull Williamsburg and then I'd be left with the 2 hotel certs to go somewhere next summer.

Or should I use the certs in Kauai, use my own Manor club, and use Aruba as a trade for next summer? This is such hard work! :)

Why don't you use your Manor Club to try to get your exchange into Hawaii? A couple of years ago I received a 2-BR into KoOlina during the summer using my 2-BR Manor Club platnium. I placed my exchange in August and received the confirmation in November. Than use your Aruba for Williamsburg. Just a suggestion. Good Luck!!

Ellen,
Did you get your air to Hawaii or still working on it for next summer? I did notice "saver" seats open for next summer when I was looking for myself, connections were not great, but doable, even with kids.

Yes - I have my seats!!!! FF first class for us, coach for the kids (we're seats 2 and we have them in 5, so we don't feel too bad - and they're older anyway).

I didn't want to use Manor because I'd have to pay another year of Interval since my reservation for Manor is August 8th. Is that a bad week?

I like the idea of snagging Manor with Aruba - I know that's available. It's funny - Aruba will snag Manor and Manor will snag Aruba - but neither of them show Hawaii.

If Manor is the way to get Hawaii, maybe I should bite the bullet and pay the additional 82 dollars for another year of II...

Editing - I just called Interval. They said that getting a 2 bedroom is very, very hard - they suggest sticking with accepting a one bed - they said Aruba is better than Manor for this - and that they expect Jan or Feb I should get my trade if I leave it at one bedroom...

FWIW, It took 6 months of waiting but I just got confirmed to a Ko Olina 2BR in exchange for a gold Surf Club 2BR. It took patience but it worked.:)

Not a Marriott expert here, but I could see Manor Club summer weeks with studio Playa Andaluza gold. Haven't checked very recently though.

I can also see them with a non-deposited 1 bedroom Starwood week (can see them now up till July 24 check in)...

I think I would try to be a little more patient for a while and if it doesn't come through - I would try for a better trade next year; I would think Aruba gold does have great trading power....doesn't it?!

Did you request for Kauai only or also for other islands?

Direct Exchange

I would take the Direct Exchange. Manor Club even at Platinum is not worth as much as the Kauai property. I'd take the exchange and have a great time in Hawaii.

I'd expect that you will not be in the room much to begin with. The sofa beds are also all replaced with Murphy Beds, I think.

Aloha!!!

If you cannot get a 2BR in Kauai with your Aruba, most likely you will not get it with MMC. You can probably get a 2BR at MMC using a 1BR deposit from Aruba, if you haven't already deposited your Aruba as a 2BR.

Another option is Waiohai as it is all 2BR units.

Someone above mentioned getting into a 2BR KoOlina using a 2BR Manor Club. Most likely it was a bulk deposit as their are MANY Marriott owned units there. Kauai Beach Club is sold out, therefore Marriott has no rooms to deposit other than a few resales. Owners typically lock-off their weeks in Hawaii before depositing, making it very difficult to trade into a 2BR unit.

IMO
Terry

P.S. - I would wait on II a bit longer before making any deals.

Thanks. I'm waiting. The direct exchange person wanted 2010 anyway - no way will I go through this nightmare again. Nutty with the airlines - now it's 11:22 and I'm up waiting to try to book Hilton for Oahu - then wait out Kauai. At least I have the Marriott certificates, so if I get the Hilton, I have a place to stay in Kauai if no trade comes through. I'll know in 37 minutes. :)
