Ok, I just got the deed for an annual 166,000 FSP contract at Wyndham's Bonnet Creek Resort which will include the fast evaporating 2008 use years points.

I'm still not the recognized owner by Wyndham.

What should I be doing about the 2008 points?

What should I be doing about the 2009 points?

2008 points - you need to have an account with Wyndham before you can access these. I'm not sure how long this is taking right now. If Wyndham says it will be a while, you made need the closing company to do something about this on your behalf ie. make a reservation, etc. As long as you have the points before the end of 2008 you can make some deposits to RCI for future exchanges. Other threads discuss amounts. Generally 28K, 42K, 70K, and 105K are recommended, especially 28K (easy trades, bulk banks, Wyndham resorts) and 70K (moderate trades) are recommended. After Dec. 31 they go up in smoke.
2009 points - you can pool them before the end of the year so you can use them anyime in the next 3 years. Otherwise, make a reservation for 2009 or deposit in RCI. Rental is an option too if you don't want to use.

(Assuming here that RCI is your exchange company.)

Clarification requested...

(Assuming here that RCI is your exchange company.)

Please forgive my (readily admitted) ignorance on this particular subject, but since Wyndham now owns RCI outright, isn't RCI by default the exchange company for any and all Wyndham properties or points products? :shrug:

I'm not asserting this to be so, I'm instead asking for clarification.
Thanks.

RCI is not the ONLY exchange company for Wyndham owners. Some wynham resorts are affiliated with II, and those owners are II members.

Bonnet Creek is a RCI property.

Your 2008 Points;

- Ask the closing company/owner to make reservation for you
- Ask the closing company (if possible) to hold the points in another points account them transfer them back to you

Your 2009 Points;

- Make a reservation with Wyndham using your points for an internal resort vacation.

- Bank a 28K or 70K week from Wyndham with RCI (you have to call Wyndham to do this) and conduct an ongoing search for some locations you want next year.

Good luck with closing on this soon. It usually takes 8 to 12 weeks.

I am in the same boat with the 2008 points and it is so frustrating. I have tried to have the sellers reservation people (whoever they are) make reservations for me this year and let me tell you, it has not been easy. Everything they have tried so far has been taken. I can't justify flying somewhere for two nights at this point and the places that are close enough to drive (WI Dells, Branson, etc.) are all booked up when my family could get away. Now I'm feeling like the 2009 points are losing value as time goes by also. The length of time it takes for Wyndham to process these things is ridiculous! :annoyed:

Do you already has Wyndham account? If so, have them transfer the point to your account.

If not, you may want them to reserve 2009 trip and transfer the reservation to you.

For 2008, rent the point out, or deposit all to RCI and transfer them.
