@alexb check out whether you can book a 1 bdrm off season weeknight for 1 or 2 nights in Scottsdale at WKV or SDO or a studio in Orlando. I know it's only about 500 points in abound for a small one bdrm at WKV during fall. IDK how many SOs required.


I may be in the same situation next year. What is the threshhold point value when it is worthwhile to bank?

The lowest StarOption reservation for a single night is 1,500 SrarOptions. That is in a hotel room unit in Steamboat in low season.

I usually calculate out how many points I might be left with after the banking deadline and pre-bank that number of points. So If I make a reservation after the banking deadline, I already have points banked that needed to be banked. In most cases, as long as you are making your reservations 8 months out, you should know by the banking deadline how many you need to bank. The issue really arrises if you have to cancel a reservation after the banking deadline.

Can you bank 2024 staroptions and then "borrow" them back if you want to make an unexpected 2024 reservation?

You can't borrow the points back, but you can borrow the 2026 points for a 2025 reservation. With that you do have to prepay the maintenance fees for the 2026 StarOptions.

Got it
Should be some sort of a strategy to get some advantage from that--but I think for the time being I will try and keep it simple
