13 month res - newbie

In the process of closing on my first Marriott purchase.
The sticky on the 13 month reservation is 7 years old, so not sure how accurate it still is. I'm still not clear on if the 13 month window only applies to owning multiple weeks at the same resort, or can they be at different resorts? Does the 13 month window really make a difference from 12 months? Does Marriott only release a certain amount of rooms at the 13 month mark?

To book at 13 mo window, you need to own at least two Marriotts that can be booked either concurrently or for consecutive weeks. They need not be at the same resort or even the same season as long as the weeks overlap or are one after the other.

I believe half the inventory can be booked at the 13mo mark.

At least half the rooms are not released until the 12 month mark. The 13 month booking for consecutive or contiguous weeks can be very helpful when trying to reserve those hard to get weeks, but there are some cases where there are so many owners trying to book at 13 months that the 13 month inventory may be gone by the time you try to book (perhaps by owners stringing 3,4,5 or more weeks and calling in even earlier that you), so keep in mind that if you don't get what you want (as in the thread referenced above) at 13 months you can keep on trying and may very well be able to book it at the 12 month mark.

If you look through the threads you will see there are various strategies for making those 13 month reservations, including locking off preceding week(s) to book at 3 weeks or more beforehand.

This is why I really like fixed weeks. It takes away much of the stress.
