I have 1000 expiring banked points and 500 expiring holding account points expiring Dec 31st. Going to Maui ocean club in January. Can I use any of these points for resort credit? Otherwise how does the II deposit work? Any other options for these points???

Here is a chart showing options. I don't think you can use it for resort credit since the points expire before your trip. 1,000 points isn't enough for an II deposit as you need at least 1,250 for that. Another decent option is air conversion or post them in the giveaway thread.

One person noted that at NYC Pulse, they are allowing the use of recently expired Club Points for resort credit. IDK how recently expired or any of the rules, or whether it was property specific. Might be worth a call to inquire, as previously it was only unexpired Club Points could be used for resort credit in the MVC system.

Those 1000 banked points can still be used for airline credit. Those 500 holding points, along with 200 of the soon to be expired points can be used for travel insurance.

The report was that the NYC City Collection points could be used for a month after your stay. The points have to be valid during your stay and you need to book a stay at NYC City Collection. Would there be enough points left over after booking a single night in NYC for any real resort credit? Would it even be worth the additional expense to try to use 1000 points?

I'm not suggesting the person go to NY. I'm suggesting asking whether or not the points expiring 12/31/24 could nevertheless be valid for resort credit to be spent during a scheduled stay in January 2025 in Hawaii. If some locations are allowing recently expired Club Points to be used as resort credit for a stay after the expiration date, then that is a change in policy. IDK if it is accurate or not. Some folks with StarOptions have said (I've never verified) that they could use expired StarOptions for resort credits if they request the resort credit prior to expiration of the StarOption. Again, IDK if it is accurate, but it is worth a call to ask IMHO.

I was curious if anything had changed since a few years ago when I was in this situation so I did a chat on MVC and this is what they said-

You may select one or more of the following options, which can be purchased using Points up to the day before they expire. Only two of the below options can be used with Club Points in a Holding Account.
-Golf certificates ( excludes Club Points in a Holding Account )
-Marriott Golf Academy Certificates ( excludes Club Points in a Holding Account )
-Car rentals ( excludes Club Points in a Holding Account )
-Travelex Travel Insurance
-Resort Credit (only if the check-in date is before the expiration date of the Points)
-Airline miles ( excludes Club Points in a Holding Account )
-External Exchange Credit ( excludes Club Points in a Holding Account )
To learn more, please follow these steps: 1- Click the Destinations tab at the top of the page. 2- Click on Cruises, Hotels, and More from the drop-down menu.

i asked if they still offered the Serg restaurant group and tanger outlet mall gift cards when staying on Hilton Head and about any special gift cards at NYC-
Thank you for your patience. We offer the SERG dining certificates that can be purchased if you have a stay taking place prior to the expiration date of the Club Points. We do not offer the Tanger Outlet certificates any longer
Yes. The SERG dining certificates are valid for five years from issuance. The Marriott Vacation Club, New York City offers Experience Dollars. Experience Dollars may be used at designated merchants. For assistance and merchant information, you will need to contact the concierge team on site as we do not have that information.
