The Transportation Security Administration is rolling out expedited screening at big airports called "Precheck."

FWIW, I'm in Precheck because of my status with AA, but because of the limited rollout so far I've only been on one trip where I got to use the Precheck line.

It's awesome. It's just like pre-9/11. You don't have to take your laptop out. You don't have to take your liquids out (or probably even bag them). You don't have to take your shoes and belt off. You don't have to go through the full body scanner and pose like a criminal.

Pre check service is free to AA advantage members at select airports. Looking forward to this at my home airport ohare, says its rolling out this month there.

update: spoke with AA, currently this pilot program is being offered to AA platinum and executive class members, to then be extended to gold members, then eventually to all AA members.

I'm lifetime gold, but have platinum for the term due to many segments in the past year so was just able to opt-in when I called. Hopefully be extended to golds sooner than later.

We're in the program because we have "fast passes" to cross the Mexican and Canadian borders--background checks that include 10 point fingerprinting and arrest records, etc.

We haven't yet had a chance to experience the change at an airport, though.

This would be great except the airports in the program (so far) are to limited. At this time it wouldn't work well for us.

How does this work with minors?

In anticipation of more travels through airports including another possible European trip in Nov 2013, I just applied.

My DW will also be applying shortly.

How does this work at the airports with our young kids (minors <12 yo) traveling with us IF my DW and I have the GOES and Precheck certifications and go through the 'express' security process?

Just found this...so, what happens for kids accompany adults with GE under 14 ?
