Just received this email from HICV

This exclusive offer is available to you for a limited time only. Call to book a reservation with POINTShield now through December 1, 2023 and receive 100,000 Club Points deposited into your RCI account for an additional $35. Offer valid for Club Members enrolled with RCI. Valid on new reservations only booked now through December 1, 2023 regardless of travel dates. Up to 300,000 points allowed per membership. RCI points reservation rebate not valid with this offer. Points valid for 2 years from transfer date.

I called in to get some terms and conditions and basically you can do as the email states, no minimum nights or points required, any reservation made by calling in will allow you to essential "buy" 100,000 points which will be deposited into RCi for $35. Something else not in the email they told me, if you do not want to make a reservation to use before 12-02 you can just outright buy 100,000 points to be deposited into RCI for $200. That doesn't sound like a bad deal. Essentially you are buying points to use in RCI for 2 cents a point. Thats lower than any maintenance fee I'm aware of. Or if you were going to make a reservation anyway you mind as well add point shield and pay $35 for 100,000 points. Which is crazy cheap. Am I missing something?

The weird thing is I didn't think rci allowed you to deposit HICV points. I thought you had to make a reservation at the time you transferred the points and couldn't just have points sit in rci waiting to be booked. Has that changed?

I think normally you can't but maybe they are doing it just for this special promotion? She said they were partnering with RCI on this promotion.

Does anyone know if / when the rci bonus points expire? Will there be any rci fees to book with these points?

They expire 2 years after they are deposited and I assume you will have to pay the normal exchange fee. $289 I think?

Could it be that the 'RCI Points' are just some type of bonus club points that can only be used with RCI and equate to 100k RCI points? The little thermostat pic seems to indicate a 2:1 ratio for conversions. This way the 'RCI Points' would sit in your HICV account until ready to use or expire.

I got that email too and am trying to figure out the logistics behind it.

I will be the guinea pig. Just made a reservation and paid the $35 for the 100,000 points. They said I should see them in my RCI account within 72 hours. I'll report back. I wanted to put an ongoing request in for HGVC Kingsland Hawaii for early 2025 anyway so if it works out I just got a great discount on that reservation.

You can actually buy up to 300k rci points for $105

I booked it as well...I actually paid $105 and I'm going to get 300k points

did you have to book three reservations or just one to get the 300k?

I took the plunge as well today. My rep told me it would take 2 business days to show the points in RCI. I ended up booking a MaxTime (11,700 pts) 3-day at Galveston TX (2bd lodge unit), to activate the deal.

Anybody get their points in their RCI account yet? I have not seen them.

I got mine this morning. I booked my trip for the promotion on 9-14-23. I actually sent an email off to HICV customer support, because I was worried why it was taking so long for the RCI points. They sent an email back stating that the response to the promotion was unexpectedly high and their turnaround times have been about 7-10 business days instead of the 48-72 hours promised by the call reps.

Did you get the points? Is this promotion still ongoing?

I used my 200,000 points to book HGVC kingsland next January. So I got. 2 bedroom for less than $100 per night after exchange and resort fees. Thanks HICV

I used this promotion to book 2 nights at Orange Lake resort before heading out to a cruise, and we used our 100,000 points to stay at the Sheraton Vistana in Orlando over 4th of July. We are hoping for a great experience at both resorts!

I may need to call in to see if we can get this offer again.

This weekend I booked 5 days at Scottsdale AZ and asked the rep about the RCI 100K promo and to my amazement HICV was still offering it. So, I took advantage of it again.

Wow. I took 200k of these when I booked some stuff last year (the rep I spoke with would only give me 100k per reservation I made...) and he said I just made the deadline.

Too bad as I just made a couple of reservations and would have loved to get some more cheap RCI points. Never even occurred to me they'd still have this so I just booked online.

Is this still going on. I'm in the midst of getting a points account what is the process here, are all points accounts qualify or is there a specific code or link to use?

No link or code. Just call them to set up the reservation and ask for the promo. It might be over, its been going on since Q4 of last year.
