Any help is appreciated.

We are staying at the Grandview next Sunday for 1 week. We already have our plans for the shows, casinos we want to see, events on the strip.

But the question is this. We are a 35 year old couple and want to do one thing off the strip that isnt a shock to my wallet. Any suggestions that might take up no more then half a day (6-8 hours). We have not done anything besides play at the casinos and shows in the past. Want to give something else a try.

Thanks

You should review this thread http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57630 which discusses what you are asking.

One place which I've not seen mentioned but is worth considering is the Liberace Museum. http://www.liberace.org/

A co-worker raved about it years ago and I thought she was nuts...turns out it's very interesting seeing his collection of pianos, cars, costumes and the story of his life. My wife and I easily spent three hours there and could have stayed longer if we didn't have someplace to go. It's about 4 miles east of MGM on Tropicana...the link above has the address and info.

Do a 1/2 day bus tour to the Hoover Dam if you have never been there. You will really enjoy it.

Red Rock Canyon is a very nice area, they have Horseback Tours, or you could grab a Bottle of your favorite wine, some good French bread, Cheese, fruit....

Hoover Dam is a nice day trip

The Gun Store, shoot a 100 rounds through a Tommy Gun.

Atomic testing Museum on Flamingo.

Red Rock or Valley of Fire and Hoover for some scenery.
You can rent a car and plan a trip yourself,
Enjoy!

Valley of fire and Hoover have been recommended and you can do both in one day trip. Drive I-15 to the Valley of Fire and then drive the loop to hoover and back to Vegas. If you do the valley of fire, make sure you do the easy white dome trail. Drive times are: Vegas to Valley of fire-45 min, Valley to hoover 1 hr, hoover to Vegas 45 min.
