I see there are 1 bedroom resales at AOC but not Surf Club. Is that correct? Where are the 1 bedroom Ocean View villas located at AOC? Are they dedicated 1 bedroom villas or the 1 bedroom portion of the 2 bedroom Lockoff Villas?

SC only has 2 BR Lockoff's in all views and 3 BR lockoff's in Ocean View (lower than Ocean Side) only in Compass building I believe. I do not know the actual locations of the 1 BR's at OC other than I'm pretty certain they are only ocean side and not OF.

There are more dedicated one bedroom villas at the OC than 2 bedroom villas. They are located both Ocean Front and Ocean View! We have owned 3 weeks there since pre construction!
Are there dedicated OF villas, I had heard there were not.

The Ocean Club only has 1 building shaped like a U. Ocean front are at the end of the U. All other villas are Ocean view.

I know this has been asked and discussed before. But could anyone refresh my memory of the pros and cons of SC vs OC. Aruba is on our wish list for 2022, I think. I am planning for 2021 now and then moving onto 2022. We are a married couple in our 50s, no kids but I like oceanfront. Could do a 1 BR or 2 BR depending on availability and view. We have MVC DPs so would book with that. Not too concerned about points in 2021 and 2022 because we canceled all 2020 trips and have lots of DPs.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I thought there were no dedicated 1 BR OF units.

Just a heads up, the majority of owners at the OC use their weeks or rent them out and they do not use DP. Unless you are going off season DP reservations will be very difficult to get as Aruba is not part of the trust and most owners aren’t even enrolled in DP. OC is smaller and quieter than the SC. We own at the OC and IMHO it is better!

Okay good to know. So we will go based on availability on the MVC website. It lists room size and view type so I will take what comes closest to my desires! Sounds like more SC inventory will be available than OC inventory. I have seen Aruba in the MVC website using DPs so I am sure we can get something. It is amazing at how MVC gets inventory if you book far enough ahead.

Surf Club is bigger, busier, and has a lazy river to float in. Ocean Club is more relaxed, quieter And has more beach space . We actually like both for different reasons. We usually stay 2 weeks and stay 1 week in each.

We love the lazy river but 2 weeks of kids splashing and screaming is too much for me. If you choose Surf Club aim for when the kids aren’t on holiday IMHO.

Yes there are both OF and OV dedicated 1 bedroom villas just as I said in my original response!
Thanks that's different than I'd been told previously.

I haven't had any trouble reserving at 12 months out for SC. I haven't tried for OC since we prefer SC. I've even reserve week 52 without any problems in OS & OV though not OF which I would have preferred. Got an OF exchange once though.

I got a 1 br OV for Jan 4 - 11, 2021 at about 11.5 months out on points!! Got lucky I’m thinking but very happy.

How easy or not is it to rent a 1 bedroom OV Platinum at AOC?

I've been renting for more than 15 years without any problems.
The more desirable weeks you're able to book the easier it is...

Agreed. At exactly 12 months out when 1st available to book on the website normally no issues booking SC (other than 3 Bedroom) or OC using DP points. Wait a couple of days then difficult to book specific dates reservation. Just need to be prepared and plan ahead. Aruba is awesome and worth the 12 month wait on a vacation if you can plan that far ahead.
