"Slimy", not "Shady". But I really don't understand how anyone is held hostage in another companies store. I've had cell phone people approach me in a Sam's Club and I just keep walking. Like - I never go to Bass Pro and have never interacted with Bluegreen either, but that confused me. Also the article claiming Bluegreen moved from Hotels to Timeshares as a model is just flat out wrong as far as I understand it.

Maybe HGV didn't want to be associated with the Nascar fans, trying to move the BG brand upscale?

He says “fans” are happy about it and quotes one person from the comments.

seems like yet another click-bait headline in the Age of Outrage, which simply can't understand a corporate decision to stop investing in a brand name that will eventually disappear. Is 2 + 2 "rocket science" to these people?

trying to move the BG brand upscale?
I'd say "sort of". Reading the transcripts of qtrly conf calls shows that the people HGV wants coming thru the doors at BG sites are people who can and would UPGRADE to Diamond or even HGVC resorts. Someone at corporate decided
a) nascar doesn't efficiently deliver those people
b) the "Bluegreen" name will go away eventually, so "Why bother promoting it?"

If you take HGV CEO Mark Wang for his word, there will no longer be any BlueGreen in a few years. In the 2024 3rd Quarter Investor call, he indicated that the majority of BlueGreen properties would be integrated into HVC/DRI while a select few would be placed into the HGVC/bHC system. Why spend the money to build a brand/system that won't be around in a few years?

However, I believe the BG TS system will still exist, just like the DRI TS system. Just because something is rebranded doesn't mean that BG will still trade exactly like it does today. Another example is the former Embarc properties. Many of the former Embarc properties have been rebranded as HGVC properties. Legacy HGVC club members however can not trade into these properties nor can legacy former Embarc owners trade into Legacy HGVC properties.
