Disneyland admission tops $200 a day

Let me see if I can address all of this in one post: First of all, please recall my point was in reaction to this: There are many parallels between pricing at WDW and the drug companies. Neither are overly concerned with the current public perception (albeit for very different reasons)...

Disneyland admission tops $200 a day

Somehow, I believe this same line of logic is being used by drug companies as well. Simply because one can do something, it does not follow that one should do something.

Woman brings mini-service horse onto plane, into first class

A service animal - as defined like a leader dog for the blind, an early onset of a dangerous medical condition (such as high blood sugar detection), even a balance assist dog - they can and should be able to fly with the people they provide necessary medical assistance to (toward). Emotional...

The sad reality is people with idiotic notions like these make the job of those who are truly concerned with animals best interests even harder.

    Feb 2020 Timeshare Review contest

But with that particular review in mind, considering it is quite dated and really doesn't add anything of value, is it a candidate for pruning? Or is that a can of worms best left unopened?

    Feb 2020 Timeshare Review contest

@TUGBrian I was thinking along these lines as well as I was looking for information on some resorts we have not stayed at previously. I almost hate to bring this up, but during the course of researching a few resorts, I found some really poor reviews (reviews that offered really nothing...

What happened to Jr & Sr High Math?

Needvaca, I agree with much of your point - I don't think we are putting the proper academic work expectations on our students today. We are hearing constantly about the 'evils' of homework - as if independent learning is something to be avoided. Learning comes from doing - and while I agree...

Disneyland admission tops $200 a day

Like most everything in life, Disney is definitely one of those things some will like and others won't - no matter what. I can remember taking our oldest to Disney World when he was young and enjoying it somewhat but it did not take our kids long before the coolness factor in Orlando shifted to...

Has anyone flown Southwest to Hawaii yet?

This is interesting - I just noticed the cost of an upcoming SW reservation made in points had dropped. About to see how Southwest handles this. Will they refund points? What was a 68K point reservation is now out there for 48K.. Edit: I am now chatting with Southwest. If you haven't tried...

Car rental price drop for upcoming Maui trip

I have been looking for late May / early June and I have seen two price drops already - even within Hertz. As noted previously, I have a couple of offers for Budget and Alamo that are about $200 cheaper, but my experience with Hertz has been top notch. I do wonder how often it is realistic to...

What happened to Jr & Sr High Math?

Ours is a simliar story, George. Our commute to practice and training was about one hour each way and we often had to leave just as soon as everyone got home from school. The kids learned pretty quickly how golden that hour could be in terms of doing homework, their reading, any homework that...

What happened to Jr & Sr High Math?

I will read the article ASAP but i hope the article does not suggest the mental and physical issues WITHOUT considering the effect of video games and social media consuming the quantities of time in student's lives these days.

What happened to Jr & Sr High Math?

FWIW, as Cornell notes (at least in our state) there has been an effort in the past few years to push the curriculum 'down' (meaning starting Pre Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, etc) in earlier grades. I agree with Cornell's observation in this area but want to add that something lost in this...

What happened to Jr & Sr High Math?

From someone who works in the public education sector, a few items for your consideration: The math you recall from the courses you took, and the amount of math you were introduced to in those courses would cripple nearly every HS student today. Gone are the days where students were...

    RCI and Wyndham

@Baggi - Wyndham points CAN be used at Worldmark resorts BUT you do pay a fee (was $99 the last time I did this...may be more now). As a Wyndham member, to check Worldmark availability, you need to call Wyndham first and ask about Worldmark availability. The call will then be transferred. Make...

Car rental price drop for upcoming Maui trip

I saw a drop of about $100 on my Hertz rental (which I took advantage of and rebooked at the lower rate), but in this last cycle of price monitoring, I still could save another $200 (or so) if I were willing to use Budget. I certainly have come to like AutoSlash a lot!

POLL: For those of you who have adult children (over age 18), do you still regularly schedule family vacations together?

Goaliedave, Your bolded point is spot on - with just one problem on my end. I am quickly discovering that many of the things I could do (and enjoyed doing) in my 3rd decade of existence aren't quite so easy in my 6th decade of existence. Time catches us all, I'm afraid. I think your point...

POLL: For those of you who have adult children (over age 18), do you still regularly schedule family vacations together?

@Glynda, I understand your point and your feelings here. Allow me to ask a couple of questions if I might - questions that mirror where the wife and I are in our relationship with our kids. I'll preface what I am about to say/ask with this - I wish I had answers to the questions that bother...

    Tuggers: any Star Wars fans?

For those who may have missed it, a few years ago a SW fan came up with the idea for those watching Star Wars films for the first time to do so in Machete Order. Click here for that article. It is worth a read even for those of us who have seen Star Wars many times over.
