I have stayed out of this thread but will comment on this. Early in the pandemic everyone was advised that if they had been in public they should leave their mask on until they got home and could take it off and immediately wash their hands. Also, if they were going from public place to another public place to leave it on rather than taking it off and putting it back on repeatedly. I’m sure that’s what some people have done. So, they’re not wearing it in their car to “protect” anyone. Well unless they perhaps have a child in a car seat or something someone else can’t see.

Regardless, it’s no one else’s business if the person wants to live in a damn mask.

Similar to riding in a car by yourself wearing a mask. Who are they protecting???

I feel the CDC is worried that on a cruise ship, their could be another COVID-19 pandemic outbreak . Thus, that cruise ships, cruise workers and cruise passengers could not return to an American port. IMHO.

I am trying to change the mood of this thread.

If 98% of the crew and 95% of the passengers are vaccinated and then add in the slim chance of getting it to begin with, I don't think they will have much of a problem. Of course, we'll never know until they try but I haven't heard of any major outbreaks on any of the European or Chinese cruises that have been going on for months now.

Early in the pandemic was something like 13+ months ago. And you seem to think that I'm rolling down my window and hollering at people which isn't the case. I don't care what they do, I'm just commenting on how it looks to me.

FWIW, I drive an E-150 as a courier daily. Other than an 18 wheeler, there really isn't a car I can see into. And if they did have a child in their car, they wouldn't be by themselves as my comment was on people who are driving "by themselves" which I thought I clearly stated but I would also hope that if a person was driving a kid around it would be their kid to begin with.

Salary numbers without corresponding cost of living mean very little. A $75K salary in NYC is quite different than $75K in Alabama. It would be interesting to see your table adjusted with CoL factors, but with just a terse look, North Dakota seems like a great place -- towards the top in your list and certainly not a high CoL location.

Kurt
Here is a good site to compare.

I looked at NY vs FL and the cost of living is pretty close other than 1 factor: cost of real estate. If you consider that most people in NY get actual wealth from this difference it may not be a negative. This I would assume is a driving factor in why retiree's move. Why not take advantage of NY salaries and house equity and move to FL when you do not need a salary.

You can see in backseats? Seems like you are grasping to justify.

I live in Naples. Most stores I go into people are still wearing masks. Masks are still on at my daughters school. I work in healthcare and still wear a mask.
I am vaccinated but have an unvaccinated child to protect. One of her 9 year old friends was quite sick with COVID and still has lingering symptoms.

I really think it's about protecting the under 16's now (as well as stopping mutations). (My brother lives in Florida, BTW, and he wears a mask when he thinks he should. Also, he didn't visit my 88 year old mother in MA for Christmas because he didn't feel it was worth the risk (ie would not be able to be live with himself had he made her sick). So I do know their are logical and reasonable people in Florida. Living the dream while thinking of others, it is possible) :)
