....... I'm assuming that my husband will make nothing the next to years and my teacher's salary is all that we will have, so if I need a new car, which is likely within the next 2 years,
Hi cbyrne 1174,
If you end up needing to buy a car - there will likely be some pretty good financing deals .
Think 84 months at very close to 0% .
I know you live carefully : so after mortgage & food - try to figure how to keep the great family time ,that your Wyndham ownership has allowed

*******
We bought 2 Hyundai’s that way (2012/ 2013) The payment will be around $250 * ( cdn $ quoted)
You will be upside down for part of the loan - so change the oil alot & drive carefully. Most cars will now last 180K miles ;so you should be OK .
* each was about $ 16 K - manual trans - air conditioning - Elantra’s .( Canadian $ quoted )

My 2012 Elantra Touring had its last payment in April 2019:- now has 180K and the air conditioning is a 2 summer
ago memory .( no air conditioning in a Canada summer isn’t too bad / except once or 3 weeks per summer).
I will drive it until the cost of a repair kills it .

I don't live in Canada like you. They don't pay teachers in FL a livable wage. Starting pay is $38,000 and average rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is $1300 a month. They also don't give us health insurance for our kids. For my husband, I was just going to pay the $600 tax penalty and not have it. I was going to keep my daughter's Medicaid for $220 a month. I make a few hundred dollars over the poverty line, so she can't get Medicaid for cheap that way. $250 a month is what I would have to cut to live off my salary without going into debt.

My husband has a job offer to start work in May for a health insurance company. I just don't think it will go through.
