My husband and I are thinking of going for a short sightseeing trip from Las Vegas to Zion National Park. We're tentatively planning to drive up on Sunday morning, spend the night somewhere, and drive back home on Monday.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for the route as well as where to spend the night? We're mainly interested in sightseeing and maybe some short hikes.

Go to maps.google.com click on "directions" and put in Las Vegas, nv and Springdale, ut. You will get detailed directions.

Most convenient accomodations would be in either the park itself or in Springdale. We stayed at Flanigins Inn last year. http://www.flanigans.com/ It was very convenient and we ate at the Spotted Dog which is their restaurant.

If we went back angain I would try to stay at Cliff Rose Lodge and Gardens http://www.cliffroselodge.com/rates.html

We stayed in the park--nothing more convenient than walking out your door! The hike up to Angel's Landing is just across the street aways. Angel's Landing is not a short hike but you don't have to do the entire thing. The Emerald Pools trails are also across the street from the lodge.
