Yikes! Loud building noises next door to Santa Barbara in Pompano.

Sitting by the pool this morning at The Santa Barbara in Pompano. A friend alerted me in April that a new building was going up next door.

I called them and was told building had started in February. I thought they would have the exterior done by the time we arrived in December:

Oh how I was wrong. When we arrived and saw the exterior it hit me. It’s Florida. Everything takes twice as long.

So now I’m sitting next to the new building while 3 giant cranes go up and down the side of the building making a considerable amount of noise.

Thank G-d we can go across the street to the pool!

We will be there in four weeks. Just got a call from resort confirming reservation and warning of construction. We're only there for two nights and have family nearby to visit. We'll definitely go across the street as you suggest.

Have you noticed much noise on weekends or at night? That's when it would bother us the most.

We were at the resort 12/28-30. The building crew was off for the weekend, and we didn't have problems with noise .The rooms facing south (odd numbers) are the only ones affected.

In general, the project seems a bit further along than the photo above so should be done in a few months .

Wow that is literally NEXT door. I guess that knocks out a lot of the view on that side of the resort. It looks closer than it appears in Googlemaps. Thankfully there is a small park on the other side, so maybe views that way will now be the preferred direction.

Is the new building on the north side? If so it won't affect the sun shinning on the pool.

No it is on the south side. The north side is the little park.

It looks like the building is as high as it is going to be. What is the effect on sun at the pool? It won't be as bad in summer, when the sun is higher, and may not have any effect at all.

As much as anything, there is a loss of privacy. That building is very close.
