Hey Tuggers
For anybody with Ovation experience: If Wyndham takes back your contracts and offers the 3 year mx fee free usage, can you still make reservations on line during that 3 year period? Are there other restrictions? Just checking options for the future.

Yes, they still allow you to keep your login and make reservations online.

The only restrictions I think are:
-It must be a Wyndham exchange. You can't go to one of the associated resorts.
-You cannot trade into any trading company.
-I am not exactly sure but think you are limited to about 10 months advance
(which I believe is the same as non-home resorts... since I guess you no longer have a home resort)

I am not 100% sure of the last as I have not had any reason to try.

All in all, not tough restrictions to take for "free" points and usually if you are thinking of taking them up on Ovation, your travel is either diminishing or changing to things like cruises, touring or a second home, so these kind of come as extra trips or bonus trips and it is only for three years.

Wyndham will not take back all contracts. They want contracts from just the resorts they want to get more inventory from so keep that in mind. Your contract has to paid in full to Wyndham before they will consider taking it back. Also there is no guarantee they will give you 3 years of points. To get them to consider giving you 3 years of points, you have to ask for the Limited Edition program.

You can ask for the list of Limited Edition resorts to see which ones you can use your points at. Yes you are limited to start making reservations at the 10 month window since you will no longer have a home resort. You will still have the same level of VIP status you had once the Limited Edition program starts.

Thanks Pete...most of my 3+ million points are CWA and most are developer bought ( long before I discovered TUG).

Skipper Scooby...Thanks for the info. I'll check into the Limited edition program. This is not a really bad deal if I could continue to rent for 3 years.

Just curious if the Ovation requires a certain time of ownership. Wondering if ‘hypothetically’ you could buy a unit at a desired resort from eBay for $500 for all costs and transfer fees. Then a year later sell if back to Wyndham Ovation for the 3 years. So you get 4 years for $500 plus one year MF

I am pretty sure that resale purchases don't qualify for the 3 years, though I am not positive about that.

MaryBella7 is correct. Nobody has reported getting anything at all for turning in resale contracts.

I assumed that resale ownerships could be Ovated, but I would have enjoyed reading about that!

When we were working with Ovation, I got a very friendly agent who told me that they look at each case individually. Is it a resale? How many years did you own? Did you pay your fees on time giving them no hassles? Did you upgrade your ownership at anytime? Did they make enough money on you? Is it the first time you contacted Ovation? Does Wyndham need units at your resort?

They recommended that you know what you would accept before you call, because if they look at your case and determine they will offer you the three years and you don't grab it, they note it on your account. If you call back, they may or may not offer it again. Also, what resorts they want inventory from changes constantly.

If you don't like what they offer, then call back, but if it's an offer you like.... grab it.
If you aren't sure if you want to take them up on any offer, you may want to hold off calling until you are ready to make a move.

I would assume if you tried to "flip" a week, as you describe, they would see the date you took ownership and they would refuse to take it back. The best offer, if they needed it, may be to take it back but no 3 years usage.

Just a note: I know Ovation has taken back resale weeks and gave 3 years usage but they were decades old resales, that Wyndham had made quite a bit of money over the years including the weeks being upgraded to points at a cost.

I own 2 contracts that were purchased via resale. I called a few months ago and they offered to take them both back through Ovation, but I have points borrowed from 2019, so I have to wait until January 2019 to call back.
