Recently my wife and I went on a trip and went through the timeshare song and dance. This was not the first one we had ever been to, but it was different.

They spoke about their new Wyndham Destinations package where if we signed up then we would be able to use our points for things like airfare and car rentals and we could use cash for booking 8 day 7 night vacations. They said the prices would range from the least expensive of $269 per week to the most expensive of $319 per week.

This sounded too good to be true.

Has anyone had experience with this and is that how it works with their "new venture"?

In my opinion it takes too many points for airfare, cruises, and car rentals. Poor use of points. Cash for bookings that I am aware of is last call in RCI, which had limited choices. And extra holidays which I do not knisy much about. Sounds like sales staff exaggerations to me.

Hi wtr2wine and welcome to TUG!

I don’t have any experience with Wyndham, but what the salesperson is talking about might be RCI. RCI is an exchange company where you take your timeshare week or points and trade it for another timeshare. RCI also offers discounted last minute vacations, extra vacations at timeshares for cash, and I believe they say you can use your points for some discount on cruises or car rentals.

Whatever you do before you purchase, take time out and do your research. Explore this forum. If you are interested in purchasing Wyndham, read through the Wyndham threads and ask questions. And always buy resale.

If what this salesperson was describing to you is RCI, you don’t need to buy a brand new timeshare to get the benefits of exchanging with RCI. There several different name brand timeshare systems to explore, or there are private resorts too.

The best place to start is answer a few questions:
