We have the opportunity to purchase 4 vouchers of 90,000 points for $1,875 each. Time is running out to purchase but we are not completely sure we want to purchase. We use our Starpoints for hotel stays since we are not that point savvy. The hotels we usually stay at are approx $200 per night the average night per stay using points is approx 12,000 star points. This math says its not a good deal because 90,000 pts divided by 12,000 per night = 7.5 nights in a hotel. Multiply $200 per Night x 7.5 = $1,500 which is $375 less than the promotion. What am I missing????

If your average hotel is $200/night or 12,000 StarPoints, StarPoint purchases are not for you. Here are some of the ways that calculations differs for others:

No sales taxes, hotel taxes, or resort fees are added; sometimes that "$200/night hotel room" actually costs about $275/night when everything is included.

Some 12,000 StarPoint hotels cost much more than $200/night. StarPoint stays are often a great deal in Europe. Even the Sheraton New York (near Times Square) costs 12,000 StarPoints but sometimes costs $250-$400/night.

Most important, the fifth night is free. So 48,000 StarPoints will get you five nights in a hotel, not four. And if that hotel costs $350/night, the total bill would be over $2,000 -- meaning that the StarPoints were worth $0.04 each.

2.08c/SP is not too bad. (as long as not part of an Explorer Package... IMO)
If you have use for them.
VSE/SPG is selling SPs to Westin St John Owners at 1.65c/SP (due to H. Irma)

this may be of interest.
