Hello!

What a fantastic resource this site is. I wish I knew it existed years ago.

I've been an owner of the Marriott [timeshare] since early 2007. My wife and I got involved because we thought we'd use the plan in a particular way, but we just don't travel that way. I've never stayed there, or any Marriott timeshare (even though for business I am in Marriotts every month). I've either converted my weeks to Marriott points, exchanged them to Interval International, or just missed it entirely.

I am here scouring for help and information on how to sell my [timeshare] because I just need to get out of it and move on. I still owe, but am more interested in stopping paying for something I just don't use. But as you all know, any Internet Search for "sell my timeshare" just doesn't give you the feeling that resale is even a reputable thing.

So... I know I'm new here but any help you can provide would be most appreciated. I'm sure a lot has already been posted so links to posts would be great.

Welcome to TUG - we don't permitting buying/selling/renting/trading/advertising in the discussion forums, so I have edited some of your post to comply with that rule.

I recommend that you contact 2 or 3 of the reputable brokers who are also TUG members - they will give you honest advice, and you may even want to list with one of them.

Welcome to TUG

In addition to the info already given, check out the Marriott owners forum here. There is a lively discussion going on about buy back prices.

Please keep in mind that Marriott is currently buying back some weeks in the Marriott system.

You should check with Marriott to see if they may be interested in making an offer on what you own.

Also, if you want to move it quickly then post it on eBay and start the bidding at $1.

Best of luck!

He can't sell for $1 because he still owes on it. If you sell it with the buyer completing the contract, that needs to be specified in the listing.

Thank you for the information and tips.

I do still owe, and that does limit me somewhat in what I can sell for. I have contacted Marriott about a buyback, but it was via email and was before I saw the information on here about them ACTUALLY doing it. So perhaps I'll give them a ring and see what they say. Do I have to give them ROFR if I do have a buyer?

Your closing company will handle ROFR.
