Our friend owns 2 weeks per year at the Villa del Palmar Cabo (Universal Vacation Club).
He was attempting to deposit all his available weeks to Interval.
He had just paid the 2019 maintenance fees and asked that the two 2019 weeks be deposited to Interval.
The UVC agent replied that he had to "bank" or "move" his two 2018 weeks to 2019.

What does this mean? Is there a difference between bank and move?

Is it too early for him to request that the 2019 weeks be deposited into Interval?
Perhaps it is a timing issue. UVC deposits week 45 (approx Nov 10) into Interval.

Thank you.

The only reason he would need to bank the 2018 week is if he wants to deposit a 2019 week with the 2018 week. The 2018 week is for 2018 unless it is banked. The 2019 weeks can be deposited for a 2019 reservation without week banking. If it is a gold contract vacation banking is free. Premiere contracts pay $70 to bank weeks.

Hi Bill, do you know when I have to bank my 2019 week? I believe it’s in this month of September but I’m not sure when.
Also, I’m a gold member since 2007 (not under the points membership), and thought I had to pay the $70 to bank my week for 5 years but you said a gold member dos not pay that?
Lastly, do you know if it’s better to keep the old gold membership or if the points membership is better?
Thanks! Diane

That is odd that you had to pay $70 to bank your week with a gold contract. I know for premiere contracts the fee is $70 to bank or split weeks. You might look at the faq at uvci. Below is a link to the mf question.

Keep the gold, imo, because it is sell-able if you decide to get out. Points revert back to a premiere contract and many of the point bennifits are removed from the membership when sold resale.
