As Canadian Costco members will know the Canadian Costco affiliated card is a MasterCard while the US Costco's switched from Amex to Visa making it impossible for Canadians to use their Costco credit card for purchases in the US.

We just finished up with a stay in Orlando. As usual we stocked up at Costco and were pleasantly surprised that starting in Dec. 2017 Costco in the US is now accepting the Canadian Costco MasterCard (which we did use). Not a huge deal for us as I do have a Visa, but I did like getting the cash back on my Costco MC.

The person we talked to at Costco said that Costco branded Amex cards from the UK and Costco branded Discover cards from other countries were also being accepted although I obviously couldn't verify as I don't carry those cards. Nice knowing that Costco is finally fixing the huge mess they created when they switched from a single global provider.

Ok. Can we used our VISA Costco card in Canada?

No, I don't believe so. Canadian Costco warehouses only take Mastercard now (changed from American Express).
A Costco in FL wouldn't accept our (Canadian) Costco Mastercard last year either. :( We'll try it next time! Of course they'll all take cash.

The Canadian cards are different than the American cards, and are mutually exclusive. The Florida location that takes the Canadian card may be a test market, but I don't believe it's a national thing. While US Costco's will take any Visa card, the only MasterCards they take that I know of are MC debit cards.
