I've worked outside for 34 years in PA. Retired since Nov, 2003.. (wifey still works; her choice)..There were many many COLD days. Actually loved the job, but hated the cold..When my wife and I travel, we NEVER go north of PA...Our favorite places are Florida, Caribbean, and Mexico ..How about U?

We love north. Live in Hudson Valley NY where we have gotten a foot of snow today. We don't like being cold but we don't like being hot either. We are really not winter people- don't ski or anything like that. We think there is nothing better than northern areas in spring, summer and fall. We also love mountains and pristine mountain lakes. I also do like the ocean just as well as anyone. I love to be in water- swimming around- more like wading- and I can stay in water for a long period of time.

Having timeshares in Vermont and New Hampshire in summer and off season works perfectly for us and we can drive to them as an added bonus. When we plan vacations, we usually end up somewhere where there are mountains. Not to say we do not like Florida or the Caribbean- have been there- and we also love Hawaii (but is too far a plane ride to keep going back)!

Just that we seem to be drawn to places north (been to Alaska) and the national parks - out West also. That is what we like to do. Natural wonders- mountains are uplifting.

Of course, Alaska, esp. Denali NP. But also, Iceland, even in Summer.
Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon and the "Golden Circle" are interesting to do.

Also: The Rockies: Yellowstone to Yosemite, and all of Colorado.

Then Europe. IMHO, the only way to truly understand history is...
to visit the colosseum of Rome and walk the cobblestones of Florence.

Don't confine yourself to one region, or one continent.

We tend to head to more temperate places. Few extremes either way. It's cold at home right now, so we're in Mexico. In July, it will be hot at home, so we'll either be in Idaho's beautiful mountains or in northern Europe. Spring & Fall, we hang in familiar latitudes. I kind of draw the line at shoveling snow. I hate shoveling.

I've always been a warm weather person, and until a few years ago, always vacationed in warmer places... especially in winter.

Last year I took my first trip to Lake Placid, NY in March (cheap last minute RCI exchange). It was beautiful but colder than I imagined! I'm a full-time teleworker, so I made it a 'working vacation'... spending most days inside by the fireplace admiring the frozen, snow-covered Mirror Lake. I did take a couple days off to explore the area. I would do it again because it was so beautiful.

Mix for us. We travel in all seasons. I prefer warm climate. DH likes cooler weather, but we live in Florida and both love it. Still lots of places to go.
Love timeshares!

We live in a warm climate and I prefer to stay in warm climates. But it is nice to get away during our "May Gray and June Gloom" time of the year.

I Live in the Hudson Valley of NY (Mary Ann and I are neighbors .) I hesitate to travel in the winter by airplane, because of delays due to the weather. So I usually stay put for the winter, maybe go to Cape Cod to visit family. It’s not as much fun shoveling snow as when it was as a kid.

I find May is a good time to travel to the Caribbean. I am a member of the TradeWinds cruise club... Tradewinds offers a discounted rate starting at the beginning of May as compared to the prime winter season. Flights are cheaper at this time too. The weather is not really hot yet, and the hurricane season hasn’t fully started yet .

Below is a fish I encountered on the Tradewinds BVI sailing last May 2017. This year it’s Antigua, and 2019 it is St Vincent and the Grenadines.
