The welk resort is going to give me a trip for 2 to Hawaii with air, and 4 tickets to knots for "1 hour of my time." What's the catch... how can they afford rt air as part of their incentive? (And the kbf tix to boot.)

Check the contract and how much of a deposit they want. Maybe they are legit. We get free weekends all of the time, but never Airfare. They must be REALLY marking up their TSs.

I'll tell you how. The airfare is "free", the hotel is not. You will have to book their choice of hotel at their price. The last time we were offered one of these, the airfare was free and it was $300/night for the hotel with a minimum 10 night stay. Your offer may be something different than this, but rest assured, there will be a catch.

We were offered free airfare to Hawaii when we purchased at Maui Hill. What they ended up doing was just deducting the cost of the airfare from the price of the timeshare. This was back in 1986.

The catch is you will be stuck with ever increasing fees for maintenance, will get hit with the SA, maybe internet fees, parkinfg fees, laundry fees, cleaning fees, fees fees fees! Get stuck with having to buy into a trade club, book years in advance, pay for a trade. Then take pennies on the dollar IF you can find anyone to dump it on when you can no longer use it.
For me, I like renting timeshare spaces at the last minute. They will take something for an empty space. Same great place, no worry about having to kick in for a pool or a new roof when I leave. Life is great !:cheer:

Your the catch!:whoopie:

Others go to these presentations in places like Las Vegas and complain about the treatment and their only getting cheap gift or free dinner some where so think what will happen if you get all these offers to go sit at this presentation.

Nothing is free and some how you will regret going.:wall:

Yes, these free air ticket deals are a scam. They force you to buy other things to get the ''free'' tickets, usually hotel rooms at inflated prices. The extra cost of the hotel pays for the ''free'' tickets so you really get nothing.

Try to get their offer in writing, and if they do not reveal the part about having to rent the hotel rooms, then take the tour and demand free tickets as set out in what you have in writing. Check your consumer protection laws, as in NC if they do not give you the ticket as promised, without add ons, you may be able to nail them in court for triple the cost of the tickets plus attorney fees.

What a deal! Who doesn't want to spend 1 day and half in Hawaii, with 4-5 hours at a presentation, in a low end motel? What could go wrong?

Interesting first post from Joan38 to resurrect a 9-year-old thread. I didn't think these 'free' excursions were still happening, and can't believe a TUG regular would fall for it.
