I keep a pair of self powered speaker in my storage room. Never loud, but some light jazz or contemporary hawaiian music.

But then again, I use timeshares as a surrogate second home. . . .

Speaking of which - do you know a good radio station for either good contemporary Hawaiian or Reggae (or both) for when we're driving. I've not found anything compelling so far, but I'm sure that they exist. HAwaiian and Reggae are proper Island music to me :)

As we're probably headed to Volcano this trip, it will be nice to have, especially if it has good range.

Cheers.

Here is a list of Radio stations and formats on the big island

https://www.hawaiiradiotv.com/BigIsleRadio.html

I listened to KAGB last time (It is a simucast of KAPA on the Hilo side.)

That's where I picked up Na Leo's Beautiful Day song. Check it out on Youtube!

(You can "try before you go" on many of the radio stations. Many of them also stream.)

For our 10 year anniversary, we are finally going to the big island and staying at the Bay Club wiakoloa.

We are exited and are starting to plan it out even though it is a bit out October 2020.

Any differences between koana and wiakoloa?

Any pro vacation tips to share?

Our initial research is discovering that things are very expensive on the big island

Thanks in advance for the feedback
We stayed at the Bay Club and loved it. We own at Kohala but have never used it and never plan to. We use our point elsewhere. The Bay seems much quieter and is an easy walk down to the village for shopping and the Hilton Village where we spent a lot of time walking and hanging around in their pools and their lagoon. You will have a nice little kitchen so go into town and buy some food to prepare. Makes it a lot less expensive. If you do decide to eat out, you must make a reservation and have dinner at the Lava Lava Beach Club. It is fantastic and the sunset views are terrific. Especially if you can get a table on the beach.

Just got back yesterday and went to Lava Lava twice. Once for lunch, once at Happy Hour. So very worth it.

We stayed at Kohala for the Hilton pool access, but do agree that Bay Club is, in general, better.

Cheers.

I have a question. You said you stayed at the Bay Club but hung out at the Hilton and used the pools. How were you able to do that? I thought the only guests who had access to the Hilton pools were those staying at Kohala Suites or Kingsland. Since you own at Kohala Suites does that give you free access to the pools at the Hilton even though you're not staying there?
