Hi
Do any of you still fill out the inventory sheets when you arrive at the timeshare?
I usually do, but the past couple of stays, they didn’t ask me to do it.

I don't think I've ever filled one out. Whoops. ;)

Is it ever an issue? There always seems to be a service for however many the timeshare sleeps. I've never broken anything, and we don't travel with kids, so things don't go missing. Am I being a bad guest?

No, I used to diligently do this so they wouldn’t say I took something. If something was missing I called the front desk. Like I said I haven’t done inventory the past few times.

Good to hear. I don't know if it has ever been presented to me as something I was supposed to do. I've seen lists of what was supposed to be there, but I never took the time to count forks or whatever.

I'm usually too focused on getting settled and ready to go outside and do something fun. Who has time for housework? :D

We used to get an inventory sheet at our home resort and we would fill it out. We haven't seen one there, or at any other resort, in years.

Even when there is a sheet I don’t. Too time consuming. I do let them know if I break something or if I notice something is missing.

I've never seen one at a Marriott TS. We have broken things before. If it's an issue during the stay we ask for a repair or replacement. Otherwise we leave the broken plate, etc on the kitchen counter with an apology note. Never been charged for anything.

I've only seen one at our Surf Club timeshare, but we have never filled it out as the front desk has told us to ignore it.

I used to do it all the time at our home resort and maybe once or twice at other resorts. But then they stopped the practice. I haven't exchanged in a while, but I don't recall seeing the sheets and probably would not go over the list (if it were there) again unless I couldn't find something and wanted to know if it was supposed to be in the unit.

Not any more . . . I did probably for the first 20 years of timeshare ownership. But the last, 10 years or so, not so much.

But come to think of it, I don't recall seeing the check lists like we used to in the early years of timesharing.

I think these may be more common at the smaller independent properties where they try real hard to keep costs under control? At the big brands, they are more about the luxury experience and worrying over a $0.50 plate or cup seems trivial. They build the breakage and loss in to the MFs.

When we went to WIVC up in Conchas Chinas, PV, last November, we were specifically asked to fill it out and sign it and bring it to the front office the next day. When we were ready to check out, someone came in and checked it before we could leave. That was the first time for that! Most of the ones we have go to no longer have a list.

I have noticed many timeshares do not even have inventory sheets to fill out anymore. Sometimes there is a list of what is included in the unit posted in a kitchen cupboard or in the 'welcome book' but nothing to fill out. We are in Atlantic City right now and there isn't any type of inventory sheet here at all. There is no 'welcome book' either, we were handed a single piece of paper with resort information and another piece of paper with the activities schedule.
When our kids were small they used to fight over who got to take inventory and who filled out the sheet. At least that distracted them while DH and I unpacked.

We have only been timesharing for a few years now, all with Hyatt, and while they have a laminated list of supplies, I have never seen a check sheet I was supposed to fill out. I will take a quick glance at the sheet and what is there, and the one time there was a glass missing I mentioned it to the front desk when we were going for a walk. When we came back they had replaced the missing glass.

I’ve only been to one small independent in Florida that had a list but we didn’t have to fill anything out. So I have never done one or was I asked to.

The one with the list probably should have been verified but we didn’t.

I miss the welcome books because they usually have a list of TV channels. Now I have to make my own, if I'm lucky from a list on the TV screen, and when not lucky going channel by channel and notating my favorites.

I remember waaaay back when there was kind of a diary type book where other people had written like restaurant recommendations in the area and stuff. Haven' seen that in years- I guess since the likes of Yelp & Google, and am happy if there is a list of available TV channels. I haven't even seen an inventory in forever. I know that at our fixed week near Yellowstone, they have lots of extra stuff at housekeeping if you want it- like fans, or BBQ tools or slow cookers- and tons of toiletries people have left behind. Like ALL timeshares, though- NO SHARP KNIVES!

Nope. Can't remember the last time I played that game.

I do always let them know if I break something.

We never do. If we break a glass or dish we simply call the Front Desk and they bring a replacement. No charge. If any thing is not working - coffee pot, toaster, blender - we call the Front Desk and they bring a new one. One time Patti called 3 times to get a potato peeler that worked.

Funny, just back from Orange Lake and we talked about how we used to do that 20 years ago. I have not seen a list in years at the various places we have stayed.

At our timeshare at Fitzpatrick’s Castle Holiday Home’s, there was a guestbook that you could fill out with comments of your stay. Nice for others to see.

I love finding these! Samoset has these books in the rooms...they go back for YEARS. Such neat resources. I love to sit and read them to see what people have enjoyed doing, who they traveled with, etc.

When we read the Book at Fitzpatrick Family Castle we discovered Bono and The Edge had stayed in the Apartment. We asked the Front Desk why - they have Houses near by. They told us they had been working on an Album and they wanted time away from Wives and Kids. So Patti and I slept in the same Bed as Bono assuming he used the Master Suite and our friend with us slept in the same Bed as The Edge.
