I used https://www.aealuxury.com.au/ for our tours. They were always small tours which I liked. The largest tour we had was 6 people. They will run the tour as long as there is a minimum of 2 people. The tour guide was great, the vehicle was great.

We used them for a 1/2 day Sydney tour and 2 Full day tours, a day of Hunter Valley Wine Tour that included lunch, and the other Blue Mountain Tour with Lunch. On our Blue Mountain tour we got into the Animal park before the park opened to the public, which was great. We had 6 of us on the Blue Mountain tour and 4 of us for the Wine Country tour. The Sydney tour we had to ourselves.

Considering you are gone for a full or half day, I thought it was a good price for the quality of the tour.

They will pick you up at your hotel.

We stayed at the Marriott Circular Quay and will be their again in May. It’s in a great location. I don’t recall any restaurants in particular, but we enjoyed a meal in Darling Harbor. We also enjoyed walking to the historic area near the bridge and then walking across the bridge. We did a tour of the Opera House on our own and enjoyed it. Have a great time.

Thanks for sharing this information. We want to visit the Blue Mountains this time, so will check into that.

Best regards.

@Sandy ,
Thank you for giving me the name of your tour company. Do you book it before leaving your trip or after you arrive in Sydney. Does these tours ( You took) requires a lot of walking.

Can you or someone please give inputs about money exchangie in Australia. Is it safe to use ATM (at the Airport) . Google map show there is a ANZ bank across Marriott hotel, have anyone here using ATM of this bank to withdraw money.

I also like to know if cafe and fast food places around harbour and ferry area accept credit card . Which bank credit card is widely accept in Australia.

I did book them before I left, but you can book them on shorter notice. The tours that we picked did not require lots of walking. They do offer a Hiking tour, but I have bad knees. I did not have an issue with any of the tours that we took. The full day tours are about 10 hours in length and include many stops and lunch, which is also included in the price. On the wine tasting tour, the tasting were also included.

Money from an ATM or just using a CC worked fine everywhere. I got a bit of cash out, but I used Visa all over the place. Just like in the US as far as taking CCs go.

This year January my husband & I took a 12 days cruise from Sydney to New Zealand. We added 3 nights each pre & post cruise stay in Sydney. Sydney is very easy to get around by foot, underground trains & taxi.

On our pre cruise we stayed in the central business district (CBD) Hyde Park area. We did the free Self Guided Sydney Walking tour to top Sydney must see landmarks (found in internet). At Sydney Opera House we took a guided tour inside, bought our tickets at the Opera House. We saw many Hop on hop off double decks tour buses around town but we didn't take it.

On our post cruise we stayed at Darling Harbor where very easy walked to many restaurants, shops & China Town. Our hotel concierge booked our tours included guided Blue Mountain/Scenic World/Jenolan Cave tour, Zoo, Bondi beach, and prices were good as online tours from Viator. I’m sure Marriott hotel concierge can help you!

We used our Costco Citi Bank Visa card paid for everything including taxis, restaurants, tours, shops & etc. There is no foreign transaction fees on charges & still get reward. On our Visa statement showed reasonable currency exchange rate. We did exchanged $100 US at the airport, it was the worst exchange rate plus they charged a service fee. There were many currency exchange places around the city with better exchange rate & no fee. We did not use ATM.

By the way, in Australia you don’t have to tip! But you can if you want to. Also no sales tax add to your shopping, foods, restaurants too!
