Hi Gang,
SVO’s “friendship rewards” program is that deal that awards us 20,000 StarPoints if we refer someone that ultimately results in them making a developer purchase of an SVN resort. For some strange reason, I’ve become obsessed with reading SVO’s fine-print these days, and sure enough there’s language in even that program that screws us . . . ..
Starwood’s published rules (copy attached) limit this award as follows:
“ Eligibility for Owner Rewards is limited to your guest(s) who purchases at any of the following SVO resorts:
• Harborside Resort at Atlantis, Nassau, The Bahamas
• Lakeside Terrace, Avon, CO
• Sheraton Broadway Plantation, Myrtle Beach, SC
• Sheraton Desert Oasis, Scottsdale, AZ
• Sheraton Mountain Vista, Avon, CO
• Sheraton PGA Vacation Resort, Port St. Lucie, FL
• Sheraton Vistana Resort, Orlando, FL
• Sheraton Vistana Villages, Orlando, FL
• Vistana's Beach Club, Jensen Beach, FL
• The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, Lahaina, HI
• The Westin Kierland Villas, Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ
• The Westin Mission Hills Resort & Villas, Rancho Mirage, CA
• The Westin St. John Resort & Villas, St. John, U.S.V.I. “
Based on this limitation, sales at WKORV-N, Cancun and Kauai are all excluded from this program. Moreover, the newest phases of Vistana Viillages (Amelia) and Westin St. John (Bay Vista) are legally separate entities from their original resorts (so SVO can make those phases voluntary while the original resorts remain mandatory). So, they too are technically excluded from this program.
Accordingly, as it currently stands, SVO’s “Friendship Rewards” program is limited to sales at sold out or nearly sold-out resorts, while the resorts in active sales are excluded.
Very Nice.
