Got an email today that states on our AMEX card anniversary, we will be credited with a free night redemption reward.

We also got a notice earlier in the year that we got a free night redemption reward for having the Marriott credit card.

Will we be able to use both or just one. since for the moment we are keeping both cards?

You will be able to use both. Only the 15 nights awards are not stackable.

The previous "free night" certificates were usable on nights costing at most 25,000 Marriott points (about 8,000 SPG value - LOW Quality). They were NOT upgradable by adding additional points to stay in a higher value hotel room. Most people report just letting them expire unused. Good luck with the new certificates.

New Marriott Visa and old SPG AmEx certificates are at 35K, alot more useful.

Everybody is saying to get the Chase ultimate rewards card, but are those points transferrable to Marriott/SPG? And if so, at what conversion rate? I love my SPG Amex and am planning on getting the luxury card in August. After the credits and perks, the annual fee will pay for itself, and I think I can achieve the 75k spend to get platinum, so there's that too. thoughts?

Points earning on the NEW cards has been devalued by 1/3.
Only reason to get this card is to earn Platinum.
    See links above.

I know about the devaluation, but some points are worth more than others. it's hard to compare apples to apples when one companies points transfer at a lesser rate or not at all. even with the lowered earn, if you use it right (especially since the luxury card brings you back up to 3 points for restaurants and airlines) it can still be lucrative. I was just asking about how the chase transferred to marriott/spg, if at all. planning my card future since the hawaiian card doesn't earn for nothing.

They claim points transfer 1:1 to various programs, including Marriott Rewards.

    Henry is correct.
You will do much better with the Chase Sapphire Reserve (for travel and restaurants) and the Alliant credit union Visa for all other spend.
