I have been debating going to St Kitts next year. How does it compare in terms of the beauty of the ocean to the Virgin Islands? We will be in the Virgin Islands the week before and we are looking for a second place to go the next week. It is possible to fly from St Thomas to St Kitts so it is a possible second Caribbean location to tag on.

You will be disappointed in St. Kitts after being in STJ.

If STJ is a 10 then St. Kitts is a 5 or 6

I had a feeling. The photos of the ocean in St Kitts looks dark. It might be nice but maybe it needs it own trip.

It's been a while since I've been to St Kitts but I would go again. The Marriott is really the only nice place to stay. Rent a car and drive around the island. See the Fort at Brimstone Hill and visit Turtle Beach. Take the ferry to Nevis and visit the botanical gardens. The people are very friendly.

I agree with the previous comments about St. Kitts. We have been 4 times over the past 6-7 years and always enjoy our time there. The beaches are not as nice as those in USVI - I'd say a 5 compared to USVI. They have had issues with seaweed at the Marriott beach but not on the Caribbean side of the island.
It's much less developed than STT but that's why we like it. We enjoy the island feel at Shipwreck (with the free Sunday local music), Lobster night at Sprat Net, and sunset cocktails at Salt Plage. The people of St. Kitts & Nevis are fantastic.
One correction to a previous comment: The Marriott is NOT the only nice place to stay. For now, there's a beautiful Hyatt hotel at Christophe Harbor that opened last year. In the works is a Ritz Carlton slated for 2021 & another hotel (I believe an Asian chain) also scheduled to be built in St. Kitts.

My concern was not the resort quality but that Marriott St Kitts seems to be on a dark Atlantic beach. The photos I see of St Kitts in general seem to show a dark blue ocean as opposed to a typical Caribbean blue-green ocean.

We were there today, on cruise ship day pass at Marriott. Beautiful beach, no seaweed. Ocean was choppy, but not “unswimmable”. Resort was beautiful, seemed very uncrowned. I’d go there for vacation.
