Here's a great article about Brian Head that skiers might find interesting. There is actually a timeshare there, Cedar Breaks Lodge, which is a Diamond property. They have pretty good rentals at Cedar Breaks Lodge, too, as well as a Best Western hotel and many private condo rentals. https://opensnow.com/news/post/trip...Zfj_4DELwq-fsnK1d2m96fyyu8qHwFTKe5wQAh1zOg50U

Given it's proximity to Las Vegas (a little over three hours drive), I thought there might be some interest for those who ski/snowboard. It's also close to Zion & Bryce Canyon National Parks.

Thanks for putting that on my radar Karen! I've made several ski trips to Utah over the years and have never even looked outside of the hour perimeter from SLC.

+1 Great to hear about new ski areas that are not expensive and not crowded. Also good to hear about a TS option close by. If you don't want to book for the entire week, you can also book the rooms directly for cash on their site. Not expensive.

Also good to know that there is a ski area close to Vegas to keep my DH happy should we ever retire to the Vegas area.

We think the Las Vegas area is a GREAT place to be retired!:)

Off topic: We often dream of selling out of expensive California and retiring very comfortably in Vegas. Where do people "snowbird" during the hot summers?

Ha, ha. I guess you could be like who the retiree snowbirds are named for and summer in Canada. Lots of British Columbians and Albertans choose Arizona and those from Ontario and Quebec choose Florida.

They have this "Air Conditioning" stuff all over Nevada and Arizona. I hear that no shoveling is necessary even if it goes berserk and causes frostbite. Seems magical.

Actually my husband loves to go to our daughter and son-in-law's condo in Brian Head, UT! I like our swimming pool and central air conditioning in the house!:)

In the summer you could try northern Idaho or Montana. I live in Salt Lake, go north in summer and South in the winter. Btw if you don't care for real big cities Mesquite is a popular retirement city. Close enough to Vegas and not far from Utah's National Parks. Vegas is a good airport to fly out of...cheaper flights.
