Should I buy a cheap timeshare to get RCI and II Extra Vacations?

Here's some information on RCI Guest Certificates and the Guest Pass:

RCI's Partial Guest Pass allows guests access to Extra Vacations as needed, without requiring member authorization each time. Guests may also have access to members' one-for-one exchanges, but only after the member authorizes the use of a specific deposit. Members must still call to authorize a guest to use a deposited week.

The Partial Guest Pass is offered in five-year increments for $179. By purchasing a Partial Guest Pass, there is no need to charge the $89 Guest Certificate fee every time a confirmation is made for the guest, and transactions are unlimited. A separate Partial Guest Pass must be purchased for each guest, and there is no limit to the number of Partial Guest Passes placed on an account. Please note that there are no spousal privileges. Partial Guest Passes may be removed (cancelled) by the member only, but this program does not offer refunds.

I believe the guest pass can only be added on an RCI weeks account not an Rci points account. I do not know if it can be added to portal access like Wyndham or HGVC.

But, while we're waiting for an answer, Points does allow Guest Certificates:

RCI Points Entry allows your owners to vacation much like RCI Points subscribing members: exchange, save or borrow Points*, book Extra VacationsSM getaways and purchase Guest Certificates.

When RCI points first came out it seemed like this was possible but 8+ years, the answer seemed to be that only those on the deed can be a joint member.

Our Account Change Specialists have advised that to add a name to an RCI Points account, the signatures of both primary members and any existing joint members along with a copy of the deed or purchase agreement (PA) listing them as owners will be required. There is a maximum of two primary members and five joint members on a single RCI Points membership.

Need I point out that that explanation requires further explanation due to the location of listing them as owners.

Listing who as owners, the names you want to add, the names of the primary members, and/or the names of the joint members.

exactly. They make it sound like everyone has to be on the deed. If they are on the deed they wouldn't need guest certificates even if it was a deeded week and not points. It sounds like in weeks you can have 2 primary members and you can change the name without a guest cert to other owners, they just wouldn't get their own rci log in info. With points they are allowing up to 7 owners to have online access. Still doesn't explain why they don't offer guest passes to rci points members.

I have asked for clarification, probably reaching my bugging-them limit.

Just guessing, I would say that since Points members can have 5 joint members, which Weeks members cannot, and joint members can do what Guest Pass holders can, Points members don't need Guest Pass Holders.

But, as to the original question way up yonder, in the T&C it says that they can limit the number of Guest Pass holders a Weeks member can have, but this response says there is no limit to either the number of Guest Pass holders or the number of reservations they can make. I didn't figure there would be because $$$$ is $$$$ when it comes to getting rid of inventory that might otherwise be unproductive.

I apologize for leaving you with unanswered questions. Anyone who is listed on an RCI Points account must now also be listed on the deed. This includes up to two primary members and up to five joint members. If the current deed indicates four people and the RCI account only lists the two primary owners, we can add the other two people to the RCI Points account as joint members. If, then, three more people are added to the deed, we can then add the additional three persons to the RCI Points account as joint members.

It is my understanding that because RCI Weeks accounts may only have a maximum of two names listed and that RCI Points accounts may have a maximum of seven names listed, the Guest Pass program was introduced to Weeks members to offset the inequity.

I had to prove that our kids were on all of our RCI Points deeds, before I could add them to the RCI Points account. I like that I can put their names on without paying a guest fee, but I don't have a box to check for the person checking in, so I have to literally call to get them added as a guest. So when we go to Disney Vacation Club resorts via exchange, I just leave Rick's and my names on every unit (sometimes we have 3 units X 2 weeks), and then Disney makes an issue that, "You cannot be in all three units, just the two of you." Then I have to make that call to RCI to add one of the kids to one of them. It's a pain.

With II, all of our kids show up on the account and I can add their names without fees. I now have Platinum so don't even have to pay fees for any guests now, but I like that they know I am not "renting" exchanges.

You could do a QCD pretty easy showing the Grantors as WXY and the Grantees as WXYZ.

PS: I'll take the thread back to Extra Vacations and Last Calls and Guest Pass holders when I get the next promotion, although I looked at the current $239 one, and it showed all available units at the resort I looked at until March, 2020, for $239.

It'll be hard to beat that!
