About to finish school with a degree in marketing. Was thinking about vacation property marketing. My question is would you prefer a career in general marketing or specializin in vacation property marketing? They say specialization is good for an in-demand field but not really sure if this is considered an in-demand field. :ponder:

Congratulations on getting your degree. It is great to work at a job that you love and to market what you love - however the vacation industry may not be hiring. I suggest you take a strong look at fields that may be hiring and send your resume there and in addition, send your resume to every vacation marketing company you know of whether they are advertising or not. That way you have your bases covered. Also you may want to target areas of the country that you love and market there - I sue the term Market as the first product to market is yourself. Funtime

I wouldn't touch timeshare sales with a 10 foot pole - they are infamous for being hard pressure and even dishonest.

I would suggest you accept an offered job that you believe you will love and let specialization take care of itself over the course of your career.

Targeting something so narrow and slime-filled is not likely to get your career off to a good start. however, there is no reason why you can't keep tabs on the vacation property industry and maybe participate on the side. That way, when there really is a good opportunity for you in that segment, you will know it.

Congratulations and good luck!

IF you are talking about selling timeshares which others have assumed it would seem to be a waste of your degree since one isn't required to do so.

You need to learn the basics before you specialize regardless of what it is you wish to do long term so the prudent approach would be to get the best "generalist" position you can, learn your trade and then branch out into something more targeted later on.

I think I'd choose a career where lying isn't allowed.

Oh well, most of us would be unemployed. (You know....those little white lies?).

The "self-starter" who snoozes at his desk.
" Internal office communications specialist"... the office gossip.
"liason between the office and management staff" ...office snitch.
Gotta Love It! :hysterical:

The OP is a shill, who is making small talk to make themselves appear to be "sincere." He has been banned.

Although considering that all his user names and posts were created at the insurance company where he works, maybe he is really looking for a new job - as a spammer! :D

All banned - plus IP has been banned. Many of the names were created today, and hadn't been used to post, yet.

Snowboards and clothes? Wow, must be a super-hardworking grunt to afford those weekend activities & shopping.

Or was he just using newly learned insurance company tricks or did the "paper" people all just died 121 days after the policy was issued. Maybe he/she would have a bright future in TS sales ...:hysterical:

I don't get it. What's the point of creating all those user names and making posts for no reason?

I was going to counsel him to go into timeshare sales. After almost 28 years in banking, I've been thinking about going into timeshare sales, just so people will repect me more.

They aren't making posts for no reason - they are promoting upfront fee companies - the "chit chat" posts are designed to make them look like "real" Tuggers.

I agree!
Thanks Denise, it's good to know these fools can't post on here without detection.

Well done....again and again!

   Denise, you are priceless! Thanks for all you do.

I agree wholeheartedly. A would-be spammer / scammer really and truly has their work cut out for them if they plan (...foolishly) to try to slide one by Denise's watchful eye. Good luck with that plan.
