I'm a 3 star elite with 192,000 options (not bragging as I know 3 star elite isnt worth that much).

As has been the case, when we do our owners update, the schtick has been, "what you have sucks, and you should get this!".

Now that Starwood has been sold to Marriot, I'm wondering if it's worth it at all to do the update. They offer $75 of on-resort credit only and I'm just exhausted in trying to keep up with the latest and greatest.

We didnt upgrade to Flex. Also, it sure looks like it isnt worth using our Starwood Amex much anymore.

Would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

My only comment is that your analysis is very sound -- and that you should continue to avoid Flex.

Much appreciated.

Do Starpoints that you've already accrued get converted into Marriott points?

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas

There really isn't starpoints anymore. Starpoints get/got multiplied by 3 and all Starwood and Marriott hotels are listed as Marriott reward points.

Based in other threads I have read, Marriott appears to charge quite a bit more in MFs. Hopefully you won’t experience a big pop in fees.
