It's pretty sobering. Updated location is near the Mahana, so north of WKORV. We snorkeled up at Honolua Bay today. Great coral, fish, and no sharks.
It's all about perspective.
Learning of person being killed by a shark near you can certainly be a shock, but it's should be more shocking how many people don't die this way. Of all the swimmers at beaches across Hawaii, California, Florida, Texas, "Amity", and the rest of the U.S. every day, all year, only 1 person died last year from a shark attack, and 1 so far this year.
Over 100 people died in car accidents today, and will every day this year.
