Redweek is very safe because you must have a paid membership to post Ads there. Your best protection is to do your due diligence FIRST, and then paying with a credit card - you can use a credit card on PayPal. With a credit card, if you feel that you are being defrauded, you dispute the payment with your credit card, and they will reverse the payment whether PayPal agrees or not.
Sorry to thread jack, but is there other sites for people looking to just rent other people's timeshares? In the past I've used Airbnb and VRBO. Seems like from what I've seen TUG has some good deals. Haven't joined redweek yet to see what they have.
I think the 2 safest are Redweek and TUG, because both require paid memberships, which helps weed out the scammers. On any free websites, there will be more scammers.
