I am considering buying a unit on the secondary market, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell my how renting points works. As best I can tell, at the lower level, you can rent 50% of your annual points, and you would pay a $4 fee for each 1,000 points rented. Does anyone know how much the points actually cost to rent? Thanks!

Renting points is $10 per point (but I heard they may be doing away with renting points or at least changing the program). Borrowing points from future years is $4 that you are prepaying toward next years MF's.

if your buying just to rent its not a great idea. If you were Elite you get some advantages to make it easier but at lower levels its tough to make back your maintenance.

The OP is looking to buy a small amount of points and rent (for himself) the additional points he needs from HICV not to rent out to others. Best bet would be to buy the number of points needed and not to rely on renting additional points.
