we are going to Lake Tahoe and the resort manager said it is best to have a four-wheel-drive. I have a reservation with Avis for SUV but I don't see any option for 4WD. I called Avis for clarification and I was told that most of the SUVs are 4WD. Is that true? Is there a way to make reservation for 4WD?

We are also open to shuttle service . But our flight will arrive in the evening and find will have to wait for almost 3 hour to get on the last shuttle. Any other way to get to south Tahoe?

Many thanks for your help,

Jane

We had this same issue a few years ago. We just rolled the dice and wound up with an almost new Tahoe LTZ for the week. One of our favorite rental cars ever. We had reserved a full size SUV though. We needed it that week. Lots of snow on the first a couple of days. But friends drove a small, compact 2wd when they visited us - things were fine while they were with us.
