Greetings Tug'ers !

I used-to religiously use Remindeo on a daily basis.
Unfortunately... it appears they went Belly-Up.
The site (WWW.Remindeo.Com) is up and running but that's about it.
It doesn't generate any email reminders nor are you able to register yourself as a new user.

I've searched for similar "reminder" aps but... didn't find any comparable.
The ones I've found require downloading and some are tied to Gmail, etc.
Associating it to Gmail allows the software to read and alter my Gmail entries.

Does anyone use "email reminders" that they recommend ?

TIA... Doug

I use Google Calendar and when entering events, tell it to send me a reminder.

I also use a Win-app called "Sticky Notes" which is like a post-it for my desktop.
It currently tells me when I need to do stuff for upcoming trips and oil changes.

Hmmmm.... Thanks! I'll look into Google-Calendar.
I'm looking for different types of 'reminders' (one-time, daily, weekly, monthly, annually (birthdays)

LOL !!!!
There would be much, much, too many "notes" on my already crowded desktop.

I checked out Google Calendar and entered "flu shot" and set it up as a 'Daily' reminder starting tomorrow.
So far.. so good (if it works)

Then I was planning to enter a reminder for our upcoming vacation and YIKES it was already entered with tag:
This event was automatically created from an email.
Spooky !

How can I alter this to also be a 'reminder' ????

Doug

Any decent task app should have this feature.

Hi Talent312

Well... I didn't receive any "reminder" for my "flu shot" above :( this morning.

Later on in the day... I received a notice that I had to authorized "Chrome" (my browser) to send reminders.
I followed its instructions but... nothing yet.

Just to be clear:
How are these 'reminders" sent ?
My preference would be via an email.

Thanks Talent312 !

They are not send via email, but as "notifications" on your phone. If you have notifications turned off globally or for the Google Calendar app, you will not see anything. Try looking there first.

Not sure what type of reminder you are looking for. If you want it to email you just set it up as a calendar entry. Then in the entry add a notification to it which can be a pop-up on your phone with google calendar installed or it will email you (to any email you choose.) You can set default notifications (ie email 15 minutes before or whatever you want), that will be applied to every calendar entry you create.

The only way it added your trip reservation is if you received a confirmation through gmail.

Howdy Kurt

Thanks for responding.

I'm in desperate search for a replacement for website: Remindeo.Com
Super easy-to-use, with all the reminder features I need.
For example:
  • I might set up a reminder: "1st day of the month" starting a year in advance of the event.
  • As the event day draws closer... I might change the frequency to "weekly" on Mondays.
  • Then... I might change the frequency to "daily".
All of the above would be accomplished by simply changing the "frequency" (no re-entering, etc.)

I was hoping Google-Calendar would be my savior: Reminding emails.
Looks like my search continues.

Thanks anyway !!!

Hi DavidVel !

Thanks for responding.
I TRIED unsuccessfully, basically following the steps you posted above, to have Google-Calendar send me an email reminder.

I don't want/need "default" notifications and definitely don't want it "applied to every calendar entry".

Thus... Google-Calendar doesn't meet my current needs.

The only way it added your trip reservation is if you received a confirmation through gmail.

This feature is super-duper !!!

Thanks David !!!

You can customize the email reminders for every item you add to Google Calendar, if you wish. And you can add as many email reminders as you want (where it says "add notification" - you can make it an email).

Holy-Moly Sarah... You're a Google-Calendar Expert !!!

What you've attached... seems like it'll meet my needs.
I'll file your solution and give it a whirl.
Thank You !!!

In the meantime, I found a website (WWW.MemoToMe.Com) that's similar to Remindeo.Com that I'm tinkering with.
It has the capability to also send reminders to phones and other email addys.
Currently... I'm solely interested in email reminders to moi.

Thanks Sarah, now I know why you have 359 "likes" + my "like" = 360  !!!

You might want to take a look at Cozi: https://www.cozi.com/

We use it because it's a shared calendar, but it has plenty of options for setting up reminders, including daily or weekly summaries. It's free.

Thank You artringwald !

It seems to be an app for a phone and/or tablet ?
I prefer a website that sends email reminders that's easily modified.
(I'd set a reminder for monthly.. and a few weeks later might modify it to weekly.)

We're not fans of "smart" phones.

Thanks anyway !!!

Cozi is also web based. That's how we use it on our PC.

Easier Said Than Done:
"Oops! Something went wrong, please refresh and try again." This occured FOUR times. :crash:

Something WEIRD is going on.
Instead of trying to "register" I clicked on "Log In".
Voila... it let me in the system.

The BIGGEST weirdo thing:
It popped up with a "handle" (HungryTraveler) I used a long, long, long time ago !!!!
I used this handle when I used-to frequent a 'Recipes' website.
I suspect it tied my email-addy to my "handle".

I'm still able to log in to remindeo.com. I last got a reminder August 25 but there's another one due about today so we'll see.

I used MemoToMe for at least ten years before that, but at the time you could only specify one email address, and I had to set up a mailing list to notify the several people I needed to notify. Still working after all these years.

They have a Facebook page but the last post was last November.

Google calendar will do exactly what you are asking here. If you didn't get an email notification, it wasn't set up correctly. Note, the email notification goes to your default gmail account. Not sure if this can be changed.

Hi DavidVel !

Thanks for your response.

If so.. then I messed up somewhere.
I may try again in the future...
but I've already spent too much time on something that should be "idiot proof".

Maybe I'm more of an idiot than they foresaw.
I'm moving on.

For grins I just went to Google and searched "email reminder service" and it seems there are numerous options available. I don't use one of these, but there are definitely lots of choices. I saw at least one that offered a free plan, and there are probably others as well.

That's exactly how I started my search.
Tried a few but couldn't find anything that has the same ease and features as Remindeo.
So I turned to my trustee helpers at Tug Lounge.
Just one of the responders also used: Remindo.
