Can someone remind me what the various RCI Resort Code prefixes mean?

E.g. Axxx, Dxxx, Rxxx

Thanks in advance. I know it's been posted on TUG Somewheres but wouldn't come up with any searches.

In earlier years, RCI assigned 4-digit resort ID numbers and after they reached 9999, they ran out of distinct numbers. Changing the number of digits in this computer field would have been extremely expensive. They started using a letter for the first digit as more resorts were developed and added to the system.

I recall first seeing "Axxx" and "Cxxx". Not long after this, Disney Vacation Club switched from II to RCI. Their resorts were given resort ID numbers that started with "DV". Those were the first ones that I can remember seeing with two letters and two numerals, rather than one letter followed by 3 numerals. Also, when Disney assigned reservations to RCI which were to be rented out rather than exchanged, they were given resort ID numbers that began with an "R", presumably for "Rental".

Not sure about any other letter identifiers. Hope that makes sense.

Gotcha. I knew the R stood for something. I assumed the others did as well, but your explanation makes more sense .
