Just a curiosity, with RCI, what is considered decent amount of points for trading? I see 30,000 and 61,000 and higher for sale just wondering what that gets you, season, location?
I get about 60,000 for my 2 bedroom unit. It usually gets me 2 weeks in a 1 bedroom mid-tier TS. More in Mexico. Or 1 week in Hawaii (not in a hotel-branded) TS though availability can be thin.
Im trying to understand the RCI points also. Can anyone explain...if a unit has floating weeks AND RCI points, how does this work?
Correct me if Im wrong but I am understanding that the RCI points is something the buyer has bought into? And the original weeks would have to be reserved via RCI like any other exchange at the home resort and pay fees to do that? Its very confusing.

It's an either/or thing. Ordinarily, (without your input) your Points account would be credited with the pre-determined number of points on an anniversary date. OR if you want to use the resort instead, YOU have to call the resort BEFORE the transfer occurs and reserve a week's use (no additional fees). That's all there is to it. Most (many?) RCI Points members never use the underlying resort week, preferring instead to exchange the points (plus an exchange fee) to go elsewhere. In my case, I've owned my 2 bedroom unit over 15 years and only used it once, when I rented a unit there instead of exchanging.
If you are looking for resale - also look at MF to points received ratio .
Grandview Las Vegas (and some other Vacation Village properties- Massanuttan , Parkway etc) - can get you 92,500 or more for SOME weeks that are in RCI points ( at a very good $ MF/to points received )-I believe this is for a 2 bedroom lock-off in RCI points- best value weeks . ( note - some weeks get fewer points)
there are also biennials and triennials . A triennials could get you almost 31,000 every year for a MF every 3 years of under $1000 . Good if your going RCI last calls and sales .
Wyndham (who owns RCI) ) allows you to convert their points into RCI points . If you have soon to expire Wyndham points this transfer / conversion allows you to get 2 more years to plan a vacation and use .
