I was made aware of the fact that I could buy RCI points protection for a points reservation, and as my check in date approaches, I could look for a similar reservation requiring fewer points, cancel the original reservation, and book the reservation requiring fewer points.
For example, I could book a points reservation to a 2bdr Williamsburg july timeshare for 40k points, buy points protection for $49, then as June approached, I could make another reservation to a 2bdr Williamsburg july timeshare for 10k points, cancelling the original 40k point reservation, and pocketing the 30k points difference.
I was wondering if anyone here has successfully done this.
