RCI ONGOING SEARCH

I thought when we did an ongoing search we had to pay the exchange fee upfront as part of the search? Forgive my ignorance as I just entered my 1st on going search. I went thru all the steps credit card in hand and showed zero fees. It's a long shot DVC but at least it's 1 bedroom so who knows. Thanks in advance

Sometimes RCI will run a promotion where you don't have to pay the exchange fee upfront. I didn't see it mentioned on their site, nor have I gotten a promo email, but maybe that's what's going on now. I did confirm by setting up an OGS just now, no fee.

For Wyndham owners, if your RCI account already has a credit that would cover the exchange fee, then you may place as many OGS requests as you would like and you don't have to pay any more upfront exchange fees. When you have confirmed something and used up the credit, then try to add a new OGS request, you may be asked to pay another upfront fee... or not... depending on whether they are running a special, allowing a new OGS without the upfront fee.

Thanks for the replies guess I just got lucky with a free ogs now if I can just get lucky 2x and get a 1 bedroom dvc for Oct 2018 I'll be thrilled

Have a back-up plan because October is food and wine and fall break - what us DVC owners call "fall frenzy".

RCI Platinum members don't pay for OGS's. Have you joined Platinum?

The Wyndham RCI portal doesn't offer Platinum.

SSR is showing a couple of dates in February. I can't log in so I don't see the Wyndham portal.

I was just in Disney and the Bounceback offer for free dining ended September 8 and didn't open up again until December 7. And they didn't offer October for this year, either. They offer bouncebacks to fill occupancy. There was a complete lack of deposits for the Fall of this year. October may just not happen.

I just added one, too, for no charge! In the past, I've always been charged for the on going search. Maybe another problem with Voyager?

I doubt it's Voyager related because this is totally on the RCI side. Once that handoff takes place and the RCI window opens, I don't think the Wyndham system is impacting the RCI system at all. It's like the infrequent specials they've run in the past, only unadvertised - so it's hard to tell if it's intentional or unintentional.
