I think it's a fantastic deal. I took advantage of it last year and we traveled with friends. We traveled in low season and it worked out to around $1600 per couple for the week. Great food, top shelf liquor, nightly entertainment, lovely rooms, unlimited resort credits to use at spa or on excursions (you do have to pay a 25% "service fee" which makes the spa treatments on a par with local prices, but excursions are a bargain). I'm trying to put together a gal pal trip for this deal at the new Hard Rock in Cabo. RCI has the AI cost under a tab and remember you are getting two units for the price of one so divide the daily rate by 4 to get your per-person fee. Fees vary depending on time of year and resort. Yes, it will be over $100 per person per day. We have always felt we have gotten our money's worth and we are rather frugal in most things. We're not big drinkers but do enjoy several a day when we are at an AI, and try different wines, while we would usually have just one drink OR one "familiar" wine at dinner on vacation. Also, our typical timeshare vacation doesn't include meals like rack of lamb, filet mignon, lobster, etc. the way we dine at the Hard Rocks. Little extras like barista-made coffees and cappuccinos, gelato, pastries add a lot of value too.
You can book this deal as Extra Vacations. The EV price is cheaper than the exchange fee! And you don't have to use any points.
Just an FYI for Wyndham owners - they also have a Hard Rock deal but it pretty much stinks unless you have gobs of Wyndham points deposited into RCI that you stand to lose. The cost is 850,000 Wyndham points for a week and covers all your costs, but travel dates are only through early December.
