I am considering buying a Pinon Pointe contract with enough points to get a 2 bedroom unit in the spring and fall. I was looking at the 2017 Hyatt Residence Club Points Value Chart to figure out the amount of points I would need.. That chart has different point values for a "2 Bedroom/1 Bedroom Premier" and a "2 Bedroom Premier".
What is the difference between the two - especially as it relates to Pinon Pointe?
If you look at the top of the 2017 chart, you will see that in a column under the heading for each resort it lists the unit types at that resort - and PP has studio, 1br and 2br - no premier or deluxe.
The premier/deluxe units are a way to get more points and should in theory be associated with a higher end unit. You will not see many resorts with those units - Highlands Inn and Siesta Key are the ones that come to mind. Highlands Inn switch from normal rooms to premier a few years ago , likely to justify the high MFs with killer Cali taxes.
Another way to change the point values is to change seasons. In 2017, the Key West units changed season designations and many bronze, silver and gold units were upgraded to gold, platinum or diamond - just compare the previous chart to the 2017 chart.
The bottom line is that Hyatt has the right to change things. As with most timeshares, we take some risk with ownership. Most folks on this forum (myself included) will tell you they love and have enjoyed their purchases (especially if you paid resale).
